Orchids gone wild

Where: Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, CA
What: Pacific Orchid Expo

A significant push from the better half made me wake up early Sunday morning to attend this show.

The day was a warm 70F...warm enough in San Francisco. The day was clear & the skies were blue. What a day to spend in San Francisco!!!

We planned to drive into town hoping to find one spot in the hundreds available in the Center. Alas! 11 am & we got to know the parking lot was "FULL" by 9.30 am.
The next bet: a garage 2 blocks away, at Marina Middle School. There were free shuttles available to get to Fort Mason from there. Pretty well organized!
An elderly neighbor in the shuttle generously handed a $2 off coupon per person. Much appreciated!

So, we get down from the shuttle & there is this huge crowd. People overshadowed the Orchids? Nah!
We did find our space eventually & took some shots, for which we primarily attended the show.

A two hour time frame extended a couple more. By 3pm, I think we were ready to get home. We come out & there is this huge blue truck that read "Toyota Hybrid Drive". I signed up for a Toyota Prius test drive. Ganesh was a little nervous to let me drive in SF, but hey, I've been driving for over 4 yrs now.

What an awesome car! Somehow, starting a car with the push of a button seemed GEEKY to me. But it has enough features to keep you occupied inside the car. Well, the main happiness: no guilt! I was not wasting as much gas as I would, if I'd just 'gone for a drive'.
It is definitely a car to consider.

Anyways, a quick stop at the Famous Ice Cream shop at Ghirardelli Square & we were ready to call it a day! Our day!!!
