San Francisco Monday

Hi All, well as you saw last night we arrived in San Francisco, so today we went looking around the city. It is quite interesting, not at all like Brisbane or Sydney. Many old buildings with a truly old feel (given that much of the city was rebuilt after the 1906 Earthquake).

We visited Macy’s (Claire I lost your cousins details somewhere and although I did go to the Lingerie Dept I couldn’t find her) and yes did buy some goodies (you should see my jeans!!)

We saw lots of fire engines rushing around the city…..and the grates in the middle of the road seemed to smoke although we have not yet come up with an accurate reason but we seem to guess it might be something to do with the fault lines etc.,

The first of our ‘junk food’ on this trip was Burger King at lunch time (the equivalent of our Hungry Jack’s) and while it was similar there were subtle differences. And I got my shoes shined!! I am attaching the photo for you all to see. The man was really interesting and nice to talk to while he busily shined.

A typical sight in San Francisco - the ubiquitous Cable Car! This was close to Powell St
$6 - extremely worthwhile and my boots now look great!!

We wandered around the city, across Union Square, found a wonderful little toy shop with Comics and Books as well, visited the Virgin Superstore, and generally just tried to find our way around San Francisco.

The weather has been reasonable - not really really cold but not really warm either. This morning the weather was around 50F approx 10C so definitely cooler than we are used to:>}

Tomorrow we will leave the Crowne Plaza (quite a nice hotel) and relocate to the Hotel Nikko to meet up with the rest of our conference partners.

And Happy Birthday Nana!!!!!

Bye all
Nicola and Mark
