San Francisco
View out our windshield at the SF RV park San Francisco was a wonderful stop. It is a beautiful old city and the people here are very friendly and helpful to visitors. We arrived and were set up by about 1:30 or 2:00 so set out on our first adventure downtown and to have dinner in China Town. We found out we are not very mass transit oriented. First problem being we left our Bart instructions from the RV park in our car. No problem, we can figure it out, ha. Actually we did figure the ticket machine and which train to take OK, it was getting off that presented the problem. We found a friendly native who told us to get off at Powell St., thank you nice person. First 6 stops the station name was on the left, 7th stop, no name hmmmm. How dare them switch to the right side. Finally someone said, this is Powell, oops, run for the door, Bill gets through, slam, Leanne is still on the train............bye honey. A real Kodak moment. So I take a little side trip to the next stop, get off, wait 10 minutes for another train to return to Powell St. Finally back together again we trek off

Wonderful surf to lull you to sleep at night. to China Town. It is about a 5-6 block walk so we work up an appetite. As luck would have it we choose a wonderful place to have dinner. Excellent food and service. Walked around after dinner and then back to the RV park. The return trip on the Bart was uneventful thank goodness. Day two and we head back to the city. We are educated now on mass transit so arrive downtown quickly. We caught the cable car right at Powell and Market St. and rode down to Fisherman's Wharf. We had a blast walking the wharf, shopping, ate calm chowder and took a bay cruise to go under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island. We decided on a smaller boat and we were glad we did. We sat on the upper deck and had a nice visit with a couple from Chicago. After the cruise we hiked up to Lombard St., 6 city blocks STRAIGHT up!! Only had to rest a few times, ha. Coming back down was easy, more looking around and finally back to find a cable car. Get on the Bart and head for the RV park, on stop 3, they stop the

close up train and say to get off. Seems there is a disabled train ahead blocking the tracks. We get to experience rush hour delays on the Bart. They keep dumping folks off and turning trains around. Talk about crowded platforms, wow, we were like sardines. Finally after an hour of waiting the trains started running again and we all headed on our merry ways. I felt sorry for the working folks, one guy was missing his own birthday party. It seemed appropriate that our San Francisco adventure should start and end with Bart issues ! Tomorrow is a rest day for laundry and picture sorting and then on to Lake Tahoe, yippee.
Bye for now.

San Fran
I have always enjoyed San Francisco. Too bad it is soooo expensive, and that it is full of weirdos...
