Legoland - Day 1Legoland - Day 1Legoland - Day 1

Looks like the tea cups from Disney but with a Legoland twist...well not really
So here we are in Carlisbad at a resort right next door to Legoland. It's about 32 miles from San Diego and right on the ocean. When we walked into our room we couldnt believe the size of it. Having lived over the past few weeks ostensibly in the same room to walk into something with two bedrooms and a kitchen and a lounge room it was almost a god send.

The drive down from Anahem (Disneyland) was reasonably uneventful apart from the stuff up at Hertz which saw me come back to our hotel with a car which was absolutely massive. Felt quite out of place to be behind the wheel and not have an American Flag flying from the aerial, and a cooler of Coors in the back with the kids and a pregnant missus in the front seat beside me. I had got accustomed to driving n the US in a car similar in size to the Volvo but in 7 lanes of Freeway in the "Bailey Truck" it at time became a little daunting...give me the XC90 any day.

Once we were checked in we travelled across to Legoland. To be honest, following Disneyland it

Greta's Revenge. Madi and Lola in the Stocks and Greta showing her "angry eyes"
was a little disappointing although the girls would not admit to it. The pleasing thing was that wait times were around 10 minutes which were much better than the average 20 to 30 minutes at Disneyland

I think the highlight for the girls was the Volvo driving school where they took to the streets of Legoland and proved their driving prowess. Lola put her license at risk by simply rear ending some kid from Equador and we were seconds away from a major political incident. So much so tha Julian Assange would have had cause to worry about his asylum status.

Following Legoland we returned to the resort and had dinner at the brewery attached to the resort. Most beers were an average alcohol content of arounnd 8% which was surprising for me especially in he US where I thought they were happy with lower percentages. The beer tasted good and all of the kids including Lola were able to eat straight from the menu. I have no doubt we will be there again tomorrow
