A few words about California is a strange way to begin a blog about a trip to the Canadian maritime provinces and New England. But Joe and I have decided that our late summer adventure starts here at the Pacific Ocean and if all goes as planned will take us to the Atlantic. We are taking a few days to repack in Prescott.

We were in San Diego staying at Joe's mom's little beach house for ten days. The days here follow a pleasant pattern. Joe takes long bike rides in the morning and boogie boards in the afternoon. I take walks in the morning and sometimes I bike with Joe. My afternoons are spent reading on the beach or exploring the nearby shops. In the evenings we walk to a restaurant to eat seafood or Mexican food or spend time with friends and relatives. The weather was very cool this time with record low "highs".

A favorite bike ride of ours in San Diego is the Silver Strand bike path that goes from downtown Coronado all the way south to Imperial Beach, about 22 miles round trip. Sometimes we take our bikes on the ferry but this time

we drove over the famous Coronado bridge and parked our car near the Hotel del Coronado.

The ride is flat and scenic...beautiful homes, lots of shore birds, and a very long stretch of beach. Our reward is always lunch at a taco shop that has great food but we are mystified at how it passes the health inspections. We rode our bikes as far south as possible, to the edge of the Tijuana slough where Mexico is visible only a couple of miles away.

This entry is sort of a "test' for me to see if this all works.

Looks good
Mike got down to mission beach yesterday briefly, so missed you, but your new trip looks great. Hope you will go to cape Breton or Newfoundland. Will expect to see you here next spring!

Any more suggestions?
Sorry we missed Mike. Since this is our first time in New England the the Canada maritime provinces, we welcome all suggestions. Not sure about Newfoundland, depends on time. We are just winging this trip, only have flights scheduled and nothing else. If we like a place, we stay awhile.

I really like your San Diego schedule; I might need something like it after two weeks in Las Cruces ;-D

I'll trade you places.
I'd rather be playing with those babies than reading on the beach...not kidding!

Tough to leave Prescott
Thanks for your comments, Jane. You're right, we haven't been home much lately and summer is such a great time to be in Prescott. We plan on making up for lost time when we get back in October.

Thanks
Glad to know this blog is getting sent, it's kind of confusing. I had no trouble with it years ago, but it's changed a lot. Sure enjoyed seeing Cathy's photos of your grandsons on FB. I have fond memories of our San Diego times with you guys (twice.)

responding to the test and wishing you "bonne chance et bon voyage au Canada."
Have a lovely adventure. We wish we were with you and we will miss but we look forward to following your journey online. I'll look after your bobcat...or more likely he will be looking after me!!! Love, Jim and Karen

The map?
Looks like it works except for the map part, don't know why that didn't come through. It seemed to work in my previous blogs from other trips.
