Me & Tim Waiting for Tour
We are waiting for the bus to take us to the Castle at the top of the hill ! I found out this morning that we actually stayed in a town called Paso Robles, California last night. The girls showered in the motor home last night so we let them sleep late while we packed up and headed towards the Hearst Castle. Tim pulled into the Chevron to fill up the Coachman as I walked over to McDonald's to get some breakfast and coffee. I discovered that McDonald's has these new cinnamon rolls that are to die for !! We made our way on down Highway 101 and about 45 minutes later I woke the girls so they could eat and get dressed. Once we arrived at the Castle, the four of us went inside to purchase our tickets. The nice lady at the counter gave Tim the total and as he reached for his credit card he soon realized that it wasn't there ! I quickly retrieved my card from the backpack while Tim was still trying to figure out where in the world his card was. He said that he thought it was in the motor home so we continued on and browsed through the visitors center until it was time for our tour. The bus ride up
the hill lasted about 15 minutes but the narrative playing over the speakers helped to pass the time quickly. We ended up with the best tour guide ever ! She was so informative and she had a great personality. She made the tour a very enjoyable experience for all of us. We had decided to take "tour number 1" which included strolling around the terraces, viewing the outdoor pool, walking through the second smallest guest house, seeing the formal dining room, the parlor and the incredible indoor pool. This place is amazing and if you are ever in the area you MUST check it out. I was afraid the girls would be bored with it but they actually liked it a lot. Once the tour was over we headed back to the motor home where Tim and I frantically started searching for his credit card. Well, it's no where to be found ! However, I did find the gas receipt to the Chevron so I called information and they put me straight through to store. The manager said that Tim had left the card there on the counter when he checked out. Yes, we had no choice but to go
View of the Hearst Land
This is a view from the bus on the way up to the Castle. The Hearst family owns 250,000 acres of land ! all the way back and get the card. Oh well, I guess these are the things that memories are made of and Hollywood would just have to wait a little longer ! Later on, down the road, we started passing a ton of wine vineyards so we decided to stop by The Peachy Canyon Winery and do some taste testing. Tim and I really enjoyed sampling the different wines and talking to the people there. We learned a lot about grapes and wine and all that stuff and we even left with a few bottles of our own ! It was getting late into the day, so after our winery experience, we headed on down Highway 101 towards Hollywood. Sometime around 7:00 or so we all started getting hungry so well pulled over and had some burgers at "In and Out Burgers". Everyone had told me that we just had to have a burger from there so we took their advice and it paid off. The burgers were delicious but I will have to say that the fries left a lot to be desired. We eventually reached the luxurious KOA campground in Pamona, California where we will stay until Monday
Are We There Yet ?
Kayla & Emily on the bus on the way up the hill. morning. Actually, it's really nice and the girls didn't waste any time getting their bathing suits on and heading for the pool. They were so excited because this is the first time they have been able to go outside at night without long-sleeves and a jacket ! Tim and I sat around the motor home and did some research about the area and tried to come up with a game plan for "Hollywood". We are off to Disney's California Adventure Park in the morning followed by Knotts Berry Farm on Friday. We are truly having the time of our lives on this trip and we are so blessed and thankful to have this opportunity. Please continue to pray for us to have safe travels and until tomorrow, adios !
