Who left the stove on?
Sounds like a lovely meandering day out...but I was worried about the pot of chilli left simmering on the stove :)
7th October 2013

Barely cooking
The chili was fine and safe. It was on the lowest of temperatures. When we walked back in the house we were hungry as the chili powder, bay leaf and cayenne pepper filled the air. It was the perfect ending to an amazing day.

Small towns and villages
I'm a city girl but I enjoy visiting the shops in small towns and villages. I'm not much of an artist so I enjoy seeing what these creative people can come up with. The drive through the redwood forest was fun and as you save the coastal views are amazing.

There is something about the autumn...
that demands a drive in the country. You also have beautiful scenery.
7th October 2013

Autumn creates the need for a scenic drive
We agree! The scenery around here is wonderful. So much to see and so little time.

Sounds like my kinda place!
I love this blog...hippies in the forest reminds me of Nimbin. You both look like you had a fabulous time and those tomatoes look yummy~!
7th October 2013

Thanks Cindy for the kind words
We didn't make it to Nimbin but bet the feel is similar from what we have read. Free spirits abound. We did have a fabulous time. A perfect day to explore and yes the tomatoes are awesome.

Bohemian
Great looking drive! I too was concerned about the chili left cooking---was hoping it was in a crockpot. :-)

Cooking chili
No worries all was fine. If you have not made it you would love this drive.

A reason to come back
It is a lovely drive and close to Santa Rosa. I think you went through the forest of the giants so you've had a great experience. I'm very excited to read about your east coast trip.

Magical towns
You two pack in so much adventure and beauty in a day--great photos and descriptions of our fabulous California! Heirloom tomatoes, farmer-fresh organic produce, hippies and the Pacific--it makes me homesick. Thanks to you, I get to travel and have a taste of home too. And MJ--you look gorgeous there on the coast! It suits you sun bunnies.
7th October 2013

Sorry we made you homesick.
We loved our Bohemian drive and I could have spent $1000 in the bread shop. Yes the sun does agree with us. Thanks for reading and keeping in touch.

Road Trip!
I thought I was the only one who liked to jump in the car and see where it takes me! Excellent way to relay such a lovely area Binkleys! Best part is finding all the little nooks and crannies along the way.
8th October 2013

Thanks for your kind comments
We love road trips. Those nooks and crannies keep us going.
