8.45am and we head through the Californian wine areas. It's definitely getting drier as we head south.10.40 am and we have just crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. The fog this bay creates is incredible as you'll see in the pic. I asked Chris to take middle lane as I don't like being on the edge of bridges and the Bay Area has already had a quake today so don't really care for a twisting bridge.Ok did not realise that 101 goes through the heart of the city on lombard street not the crooked part thankfully. think that made would have made a great test of his driving skills but we made it through and out in less than 30 minutes which was good going. Well done Chris for showing us new parts of SF.Now on our way to San Jose. I briefly burst into song sounding nothing like Dione Warwick.Bugger! Traffic jam caused by a fender bender has delayed us by 30 minutes and I need to pee.Coffee and pee and then back onto 101 at 12.20.12.35. Shush, I need to pee again. Damn coffee.Next is the 5 hour drive to LA.Pull off 101 for highway 5 where find a selection of fast food joints and stupidly choose McDonald's where are get a chicken burger with 2 slices of pickle and that's it. Different country, same shit food. Onward bound.Well this part of the journey could have you thinking you were in oz, it's dry and there are gum trees scattered about. The mountains sort or remind you that you're not.3.25 pm and the road is flat with desert on both sides but miles and miles of olive trees with stark mountains providing an amazing backdrop and tumbleweed caught in the wire fences.Deciding what to do tomorrow and thinking Hollywood blvd, west Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Sunday may have to be universal studios as we will still have the car whilst staying with Angela in Altadena.Rest stop at lost hills? Silly name for a town cos I can see them quite plainly. Tut tut these Americans, really. In saying that us people from Perth could definitely adopt the American driving style. Courteous, know how to merge, indicate and yield to other drivers and generally keep to the speed limit. Have not seen 1 instance of aggression LA at 7 pm
