On Sunday we had a long day driving US1 to Los Angeles through Big Sur and its dramatic coastline.
Travel Tip: One of the best lookouts is at Nepenthe at the Café Kavah a great outdoor café overlooking the coastline in spectacular fashion. We found it best to try and plan our photo stops as this adds a lot of time to the trip and believe me you will want to stop a lot along the way. This drive is full of many twists and turns- challenging for the driver as they must pay attention to the road and not so much the scenery- but certainly one of the best trips down the coast.
Near Cambria is a lookout for elephant seals- a protected area of beach full of these massive but playful creatures. They put on a marvelous show for free.
Next report from Los Angeles.
