We left The Eagle fairly early for the drive to Santa Monica and stopped off at a mall to look for some Hollister clothes for Joe. Lucky boy has a couple of bags full....It was another stonking hot day and the last full day with Mustangs, The road was slightly more scenic than the freeways as we we drove along the coast and saw the signs for the Malibu Tennis club and riding club and some maybe military base?.. called Seebees. The thing about driving in a convoy is that you are often separated but we managed to hold it together most of the time, we had a few hairy moments one in particular when we were in traffic queueing when Martin in I found ourselves sat right across a railway track..!! Bloody hell Buzz to infinity and beyond?... if a train had come it would have knocked us into Nevada..

It wasn't a long drive, we stopped at Zuma beach for a bite to eat and were pulling alongside The beautiful Channel Road Inn by late lunchtime. Rebecca our host is "super friendly" and showed us to our rooms on the 2nd floor..pretty hotel..really cute it has a lot of history all recorded in a journal for guests to read. Attention to detail is everywhere the home had been restored to 1920 colonial style I could live here this is my kind of house Cath Kidston style everywhere.. Tea coffee soft drinks are all on tap for you to help yourself and freshly make cakes and cookies are left out on the dresser for guests to enjoy with their afternoon tea

At five we were invited for wine and cheese (every day) and so we had a little drink of a chlled Californian white and relaxed in the lovely surroundings with subtle classical music in the background... very sophisticated and yet very homely feel.... lovely

We all felt we had eaten far too much and tonight we just wanted to stay in and watch a dvd from the library, the boys had to be up early to take the cars back to LAX and they planned to leave by 6.00 just before sunrise to avoid the traffic, they were home again by 8.30 and both relieved to be out of the 10 lane highways and the madness of early morning LA.

Breakfast was a varied selection of fruits, granola, banana bread, quiche, toast jams etc fresh OJ and coffee . We are planning a big tour of the sights tomorrow so decided today is relax on the beach for a while, then sit and read in the sunshine

Rebecca our host had offered us the use of some bikes in the shed as long as we signed a disclaimer so we thought we'd give it a go .. only 2 miles to town.. so we lined up and had a little practice up and down the drive. Mike ?..no probs... Jackie? piece of cake.. Martin... as if he had he rode his every day...me? well what a state .. the saddle wouldn't go down anymore and these bikes don't have brakes.. you have to peddle backwards to stop and my tippy toes just reached the ground... I couldn't get any momentum to start so Mike gave me a push and then i couldn't stop and nearly ran over some guests checking out.. I was doing a quickstep down the drive backwards while Mike laughed his head off... on second thoughts we decided to check out the Segways but they were 80 bucks each so we made a team decision and went to the beach instead!

Tonight we are off the santa Monica Pier for dinner but for the time being we are just chillin'... x
