Today was not an easy day. I was well rested, but suffered(and still sufffering) from what seems to be an impending cold. As you have already read (or not) I had my interview at 2 today. I woke up at 9 to rain and a throbbing headache. Nothing a shower won't fix I thought, and I was right. I danced myself into a great mood, like always and ignored the headache. Those who know me also know that very few items in my wardrobe are interview appropriate. (Those who don't know me -well, you wouldn't understand). So, I spent a substantial amount of time searching for those dress pants I used to wear back when I attended church regularly (a bit tight now) and that interview blouse I "borrowed" from Tiffany when I applied to Apple. ... read more

Yesterday I received an email from Juliet, my school's Study Abroad and Exchange advisor. It read: "Thank you for your application to study abroad in Spain: Madrid . I am delighted to inform you that have been selected for an interview." This is the next big step. I submitted my application (did that the day after my birthday) and haven't looked back since; Instead I have been planning the many ways to finance this trip which is definitely going to involve trying to surmount the fashion-mania that no doubt arrests all travels stepping foot in any major European city. So my interview is set for this upcoming Tuesday at 2pm...Wish me luck I suppose, but no one should be reading this until I am on the plane. I have been advised to dress as though I ... read more

As the sun was shining and warming my arms and legs with its soft kiss, I was in complete bliss with the warm breeze slowly rocking my hammock. I could hear the crashing of the waves against the shore and the cawing of seagulls hovering above. There was a mysterious shadow blocking my sun. When suddenly I realized where I was, still on my brothers couch in Sherman Oaks, California. Even though it’s not a day at the beach, it’s still one of my favorite vacation spots. I stepped out in to the hot oven of a street, and started heading towards the bus stop. The cars whizzed past me in a harmony of honks and screeching breaks. With each step closer to the bus stop I could feel the anticipation rising in my stomach. I ... read more

Well, Mom and Dad, Krista, Bill and the kids have come and gone. Hard to believe the holidays are over. Watched the plane take off from Bob Hope (semi) International Airport this past Wednesday morning with Mom and Dad on board headed for San Francisco and then on to Toronto. It was great having the 'old folks' around and it's not the same without them. Miss them already. Mom called from Peterborough about 11 pm their time Wednesday night and said the flight was fantastic. That's good 'cause we all know how Dad doesn't like the 'bumps' ! Currently their opening about 2 months worth of mail AND catching up on some sleep. Also apparently buying a STACK of new wool blankets because now that they've acclimatized to the Southern California 'winter' mom is now chilled ... read more

Valeu a pena? Was it worth it? Of course it was, although the way back home was a little hellish. Backing up to the good ol days, the last days of the trip that is, they were pretty nice. I might have already written about it, but one of the funner things i did was just take a ferry to an island and back - not meant to be a tourist attraction but I love being on the sea. Or bay.... Bahia means bay. I just walked around and shopped my last day, took one final capoeira class, got my pinky all numb from playing Berimbau again, and then went to the Bale Folclorico. THey did a bunch of dances about the african gods that are still worshipped in Bahia, and some of the things we ... read more

Well, there were good parts and bad parts. We found a cheap hotel, but you get what you pay for. I finally got the wireless to work by magic. There was a pool and a hot tub and a laundry. The inside room wasn't the greatest but there was HBO. Either way, we ended up staying an extra day. Here's the story about my Bad Week. We got in and took the car in since it was acting tired. We got a rental car that turned out to be an SUV that seated 7. I never let Johan drive it and I ended up liking the room, though it was crazy driving that on the freeway. Anyway, we went to Universal Studios and had fun. We were going to see the new Harry Potter movie on ... read more
