A wagon load of workers!A wagon load of workers!A wagon load of workers!

(Victory Ranch)

Wow it’s been a long time since I’ve made an entry! We women are finished painting upstairs in the hotel, and the men are pretty much finished with their roofing, and swamp cooler work. Peter is still working on the carts, trucks, tractors…anything with a motor. The weather has been very nice, cool in the mornings, warm in the afternoon,. We’ve had bits of rain off and on, but no big deal. They didn’t even bother putting out the Flood signs!

But here’s the high point to our week: Bob and I went to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic golf tournament in Palm Desert. Our tickets allowed us to go all six days, but because we have this demanding work schedule (just joking!) we could only go on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is the first major golf tournament we’ve ever attended, and it was even better than we’d expected. The format is that the players are divided into four groups, and they play on a different golf course every day, with the pros playing on Sunday on the Classic course. Celebrities play with the pros, as do some amateurs, (this is a charity tournament) and on

Friday we went to PGA West and watched the pro/celebrity teams play. We’d stand on the 10th tee box and watch half the teams tee off, and then go over to the 9th green and watch the other half come in. Some people followed certain foursomes around the course, but there was nobody we wanted to watch that badly! Saturday we went to the Silver Rock course and watched the pro/amateur teams (different pros). We did the same thing as the day before, so we got to see all the foursomes. Sunday we went early because we wanted to end up sitting in the bleachers after we watched half the teams tee off. I took our windbreakers up to the top bleacher and laid them there to save our places (risky, I know, but this is golf we’re talking about. And sure enough, three hours later the jackets and our places were still there!) From our bleachers we could watch the ninth and eighteenth greens! We were like little kids at the circus! So much fun! If RVICS ever gets a golf tournament project, we’re all over it!! And in the meantime, we’ll just watch for any in the area

where we’re working.

Under the It’s A Small World column, on Friday we were standing with a large group of people, and the woman in front of us asked where we’re from. We told her Montana and she said she was from Aberdeen, SD. And the man next to us was Minneapolis!! Another woman said she was from some place in South Dakota, but we didn’t know the town! All except the man were just here to see the tournament…the man had moved here a few years ago. Then on Saturday a couple we visited with most of the morning asked where we’re from, and it turns out she grew up in Libby!

I don’t have pictures of the tournament because the rules said cameras were not allowed~~and I believed them. Turns out I was in the very small minority. But here are some other pictures….

not only to show the swamp coolers being serviced, but the also the brick building behind it (which is connected) is the second story of the hotel where we're painting. The swamp coolers are on the kitchen roof.
