I'm back from all my adventures (I'm not so sure about this -20 business that awaited me in Edmonton) but I did promise an entry from the glamerous world of LA/Hollywood. The flight back from Kuala Lumpur/Taipai to Los Angeles was plagued by delays. The most memorable part of that plane ride was being told to exit the plane in Taipai with all my carry on luggage and that my gate was A4. After coming back from the bathroom, I tried to enter the lounge the same way I came despite a curious no entry sign. Today was spent updating all these entries and adding photos at an internet cafe 2 minutes from our hostel. Believe it or not it's still raining and after an early morning call to Disney we were advised that the rides were closed and there was no point in making the journey. We're both gutted about this but Fiona especially, the weather really has been mental here so there's not many photo's, it's been a good time though and we've met a lot of great people, LA really is party central but we're looking forward to Hawaii and that wonderful beach, roll on tomorrow, let's just hope the flights OK. Up early this morning and met a Scottish girl at breakfast, it's still battering down today so we're at a loss, a guy from the hostel, Boogie, is organising a sight seeing trip so we put our names down. The tour was great, a full day, 12 of us from the hostel in this mini-van with a mental German dude driving and talking us through it, what a day, you really need a car to see LA and this was defo the best way to do it. First stop on the tour was Beverly Hills and Bell Air to see some of the stars homes. It's like another world. I drove the PT Cruiser into Los Angeles - along some of the maddest roads I have ever been on. The highways stretch out over 6 lanes each side, people overtake on all sides and the signs are crap, one thing the UK does a lot better than the US is road signs. In the US signs just indicate the very next exit with maybe 1/2 a mile notice. Matt managed to revert to UK driving - on the left - at a truck stop - which could have been very nasty, and I nearly side swiped a cop car on a weird intersection - we got away with both, we are very lucky guys.
