Hi!

So we're in Hollywood, literally staying just off Hollywood Blvd. but before I tell you about LA, lets go back a few days to San Diego.

We arrived in San Diego mid morning after another overnight Greyhound trip, happy to find that we could check in to our hotel early. We didn't really do too much that day, just spent it catching up on our sleep as per usual.

Day two and we were off to famous San Diego Zoo. We spent the day wandering around the huge zoo looking at all the animals, pretty much what you normally would do at a Zoo! In the evening we went out and sampled the local Mexican in the main nightlife area "the Gaslamp Quarter" and it was gooood.

Day Three We went and had a look around town and walked along the picturesque Harbour, and basically soaked up the atmosphere, finishing off with another evening in the Gaslamp Quarter.

And so to Los Angeles...

We headed to LA by Greyhound and found our hostel, which was, to our delight, just off Hollywood Blvd and the sun was shining! The Next morning we got up early (for us anyway), donned our Shorts & T-shirts and joined the walking tour of Bel-air and Beverly Hills, which was run by the hostel and a steal at only $10 each (most tours are at least $50). We nosed around the prestigous neighbourhoods for a couple of hours seeing such places as the Playboy mansion, Freddie Mercury's old house, Danny Devito's back gate and Marilyn Monroe's house, the one she was found dead in (sorry for the bluntness but it's true). In the evening we had an all you can eat BBQ at the hostel, another bargain at $5 each.

So today we've wandered up and down Hollywood Blvd looking at the stars and wandering around outside the Chinese theatre where all the stars write their names in concrete, and now we're in an internet cafe writing this.

Today is our last full day in the States as tomorrow we fly to the Cook Islands! its crazy to think we've nearly conquered our first country, as we only feel like we've been on the road five minutes.

Anyway, stay tuned for our Cook Islands Blog, we're there for about 8 nights so should write a new entry in a week or so.

Until then...

G&V

xx

It is raining here today, they did forecast snow but down here in the South West we have missed it, apparently there are roads, schools and all sorts closed in the Midlands due to the snow.
