Due to construction, Disney moved its Southern California Halloween party from California Adventure over to Disneyland this year. I had decided the last time that we went that I was no longer going to attend the Halloween party when it was over at California Adventure as it was getting too crowded and we weren't having very much fun for the amount that we were paying for the tickets.
But, since Disney decided to move the party to Disneyland this year, I decided to give it a go to see how it would be in another park. I am very glad that I did as it was so much more fun in Disneyland. There is just something about adding scary Halloween elements to the Magic Kingdom that make the party that much better.
The whole trip had been raining and the beginning of the party was starting out the same way, luckily the rain tapered off and we had a drier evening than we had seen most of our trip.
For those that have never been to a Disney Halloween Party, there is trick-or-treating at stations throughout the park, characters in costume, special music and entertainment and also now
an exclusive, Halloween fireworks show that is only shown during the season for party goers.
If you do attend, pay close attention to your map as to where the trick-or-treat stations are. At the beginning of the party, head to the stations that are the farthest away from the entrance of the park to beat out the crowds. Not only will most people not have got to them yet, the parents with little kids may never get to them as the kids get tired out fast from all the excitement and walking around in costume. Also you receive quite a bit of candy and after a number of stations and parents start putting the cap on getting anymore as their kid already has a lot.
My favorite thing about the Halloween party is the lack of lines to the rides. There is only a limited number of tickets to the Halloween party sold so the park crowds are small already and the people that are there are off trick-or-treating or enjoying the other special entertainment.
All-in-all is the extra cost for the party worth it? Yes, with Disney if you pay extra, the special treatment and extra
perks are usually worth it.
****Tip**** To save yourself money, do not buy a general park ticket for the day of the party or include one less day in your mulit-day park hopper pass. Your party ticket gets you into the park prior to the party and you can still enjoy the park without having to shell out for general day tickets and the party tickets.
