Well after some nice sleep we awoke around 10.00AM and too late for breakfast. Had a look at our room as did not even notice it when we arrived. We have a 2 room suite with King Bed and lounge in main room with microwave and small fridge. Second room has two queen beds and bathroom. Very comfortable beds and everyone slept really well.
So we headed down the street to IHOP which serves breakkie all day long. Eggs on Toast (over easy is the go) with some coffee. Great weather with sunny day and about 24 degrees.
We bought a 4 day Disneyland Park Hopper ticket which cost $216- each (I wish they would charge children children’s prices until they are not children any more !). These tickets allow you to leave Disneyland and go to Californian Adventure next door throughout the day, and you have 13 days to use the 4 days. This will work well for us as we will have a couple of days after our cruise to do something.
Decided today to head to Californian Adventure Park today. First ride was Soarin’ over California which is a ride that gives you a simulation
of flying in a helicopter over various californian landscapes and is really cool.
Next stop was the Challenge Trail where we climbed on ropes and the kids did the rock climbing challenge. Nice area which looks like a National Park area.
We then went around to the main rides area. The rocket shop, the swinging chairs. A lot of construction work going on as they are building 5-6 new rides which it really needs. We were here last in 2007, and it had not changed much.
Next was the ride Elise was really looking forward to California Screamin’. It’s a genuine rollercoaster with a full loop. We went on his twice. It’s a great ride with a slingshot start that gets up to high speed real fast. A camera takes a photo of you as you are on the ride and you see it at the end and we would soon start to look out for these and make some weird faces etc for a bit of fun. I sat next to Elise and she was having a blast
Luke later realised he did this ride when he was only 9 and he could hardly imagine
he was brave enough at that age to try it. Elise actually did this once last time when she was only 7 !
We then went on the ferris wheel and took the soft option by going on the fixed cabins (they have some that swing and roll around to make you sick !).
Elise & Kerry went on the Toy Story ride and Luke & I took on the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
We then had an early dinner by having the Broccoli & Cheese Soup in a sourdough cobb loaf. This was unreal.
As darknesses descended the lights took effect which really transforms this place and it looks even better. We all went on the Toy Story ride and my competitive streak saw me do this twice separately trying to get 100,000- point but I just missed out. This is a ride that adults really enjoy as much as any kid.
Went on the ferris wheel again at night, and thought about staying around the see the Colour of Lights show which is the finale but gave up as we were all shot, and headed back to our suites (about a 10 minute walk)
to hit the sack.
Kerry had other ideas however. Yes washing. I had to go down and load the washing machines which was Ok, but then wait for dryers, and then wait for drying then fold all the clothes, then back to room. I got to bed around midnight (not happy jan !)
