On Monday morning, we left Mesa and drove to Indio, CA where we spent the night at Shadow Hills RV Park.

Tuesday morning, we hitched up an headed to San Bernardino where we turned north to climb into the highlands and onward to Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, CA.

This Wednesday morning we set out for Lodi, CA where we will stay two nights a Flag City RV Park. After three days of driving, we like to chill and stay at a location for two nights before moving on.

Here is our location:

We may do some wine tasting in and about Lodi tomorry. Folks around here seem to grow grapes just about everywhere; back yards, side yards, and yes, in some front yards. Our membership in Passport America gives us two nights at Flag City for the price of one. How sweet it is.

Looking ahead, the drive from Lodi to Redding will be an easy day. But after that, the weather can be an issue the following two days in the higher elevations of the Siskiyou Range in northern California, and Grants Pass and other passes in southern Oregon.

Last year, we caught a dry road window. Showers are predicted for our passage this year. If snow / ice impact our route going north on I-5, we will just have to hole up somewhere and wait it out in our 5th wheel.

The Highway Patrol in both California and Oregon require that we have chains on both The Beast and the 5th wheel if road conditions are icy or snowbound. Not for us; we will wait it out if necessary, until the roads become passable by old timers working their way home.

I’m thinking about tomorry morning, and walking to a nearby Flying J for a breakfast of corn beef hash, basted eggs and hash browned taters, and whole wheat toast. I’m grinnin’!

Move 'em out! I hope you aren't coming home too early, pardner. It has been one rain storm after another...nearly 9 inches of rain this month. So, if don't decide to turn around and head south, bring some dry weather, OK? Safe driving and we'll see you when you arrive.
