The last morning at Coachella and we are sad to be leaving everyone we have made friends with. We miss saying goodbye to Jenny, Denton, Carley & Ashley as they have to leave before we have even woken up! But we have nearly everyone on facebook so we can stay in touch and exchange photos! The boys are all still around and so are Richard and Hannah. So, we slowly pack up and get everything in the Mustang ready to go. Decide to have last minute shower before we go, but when we get there the showers are closed so we have a wash at the water station instead. Hugh empties buckets of water over his head, but i just wash myself down and stick my feet and head under the tap to get the grime off. My fet are filthy after 4 days in the desert
Start the drive to Vegas, but see a sign for Joshua Tree and decide to take a detour around that instead! It cost $20 to drive through, but it is worth the 3 hour detour. The scenery is just outstanding. The trees only grow here and are very strange. The National Park was
established in 1944 just to preserve the trees and is 790,000 aces! We get out every now and again at special points to have a wander round, but it is so cold! I have my denim jacket, boots and Hugh's light ski jacket and i am still freezing after the desert! It's absolutely stunning, but i can't quite enjoy it as much as I'd have liked because of the cold! We even put the top up on the Mustang because the wind is just too cold! It takes an hour to drive through and we are sad too leave in the end.
Now the drive to Vegas is going to be 4 hours of pure straight road! Hugh &and I take it in turns driving and get there in sort of one piece after a bit of a scare when i scared Hugh by driving to close to a lorry and he scared me by shouting at me, but I didn't know why and I nearly lost control of the car and spun it off the road. But all was ok, and we carried on. Then the car started telling me we were loosing petrol and we literally got
down to zero miles of petrol, but luckily at that very moment we came passed a gas station. Never been so glad to see one! But it looks like something was wrong with it as we can't put that much gas in before it tells me it is full. Carry on and it drops again, but this time it rights itself and stops and we drive into Vegas in one piece.
The roads are straight and there was just nothing to see! Pictures you have seen of straight roads going over the horizon are true! They really are straight and go on forever into the distance. But it's fun to do and definitely an experience. We come round a corner on the freeway and you can see The Strip in front. It's in the distance, but you can see how big it is from here.
We get to the apartment that we have rented and it really is right on the strip. right on top of Wynn hotel, one of the biggest. We get the bags inside and pop out to look for some food. Find a great little Mexican fast food place, but the staff all speak
Mexican and can't understand us! Some guy helps us out with what everything is and we order. The food is amazing, little soft tacos with different fillings. The beef ones are just to die for. Really soft and full of flavour. Then we have a quesadilla which Hugh gets with Salsa in and within seconds my mouth is on fire but i persevere because it tastes really good! Slightly regret in when my mouth is then on fire for the next 15 minutes, but hey! You gotta try, right!
Back to the apartment and Hugh is asleep in seconds because he is exhausted, I follow not long after and we sleep right through.
Tomorrow we explore Vegas!
