10/23/2009: Wandered down Highway 99 to Chico. Took us about an hour to make the 45 mile drive. Tough travel day! Got all settled at the Elk's Campground then just relaxed for the next two days. We really like it here. The largest county park in the USA is just across the street - lots of walking paths, lots of birds to watch, and an 18 hole public golf course. Two years ago we spent 10 days here but this year we had to keep moving.

10/25/2009: Drove south on Highway 99 to Chowchilla where we checked into The Lakes RV Resort and met up with our friends Bob and Maxine. What a lovely rv resort. And the daily fee ($45.00) includes golf - 2 18-hole rounds per day at Pleasant Run, the course adjacent to the rv resort. We played golf on day one (I lost 6 balls - too much water!), got blown off the course on day two, then played again on day three (I only lost 2 golf balls - much improved!). We thoroughly enjoyed out time with Bob, Max, and "Stinkie" - their 2 pound Yorkie.

10/29/2009: Continued south to the Elk's Lodge at Lancaster where we did absolutely nothing for the next few days. We both had the flu - headache, cough, sore throat, tired.

11/2/2009: Arrived at Indian Waters RV Resort in Indio where we will stay for 3 weeks. Weather continues just perfect. The resort is very nice - green grass, palm trees, flowers in bloom and hummingbirds at the feeder. But we both still had the flu and didn't feel like doing anything for the first week of our stay here. We just took short walks around the resort, read a lot, and rested. Our second week here we finally felt well enough to get out and about. Terry took a hike up Palm Canyon with the rv hiking group while I joined the ladies exercise group for walking followed by water aerobics. On Tuesday we walked 18 holes of golf at the Indio city course - a nice, long par 3 course. On Friday we drove to Borrego Springs to check out the rv resort for possible future use then did some hiking in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. What a beautiful area. Too far from civilization for an extended stay but lots to do and see for a

short visit. The state park campground is very nice with lots of sites suitable for big rigs. We have one week left in Indio and lots on our agenda...
