We left the homestead a week ago just in time to miss wind, hail and rain, along with a mild earthquake in the geographical vicinity of Mt. St Helens. We crossed the Columbia River into Oregon. Spent our first night on the road at Highway Haven RV Park in Sutherlin; a Passport America member park where we enjoyed a half price discount. The next morning, we set out for Redding CA. What a beautiful drive for the entire day. Sure, there was some tightfisted steering over the mountains and curves; Grants Pass of Oregon and the Siskiyous of northern California. That night we stayed at Mountain Gate RV Park, several miles north of Redding. This is gonna be a short one. So, I'm stoked that I've read 10 million articles and blogs and watched as many videos because I'm not going to rot away in the jungle from fungus or creeping crud. Also stoked that I emailed all the students in my class and they all want to go on the same zipline trip I do! And they seem like cool cats too. Which is good. This is my first entry into my journal here. I'm not much of a blogger historically, so this will be a new experience for me to add to all the other new experiences I am about to have in Costa Rica. Be prepared, I don't tend to have much of a "filter" when it comes to expressing myself, so you may read some interesting things as this progresses... I am full of so many feelings and thoughts as I prepare to take my first trip out of the country in over 20 years (not counting Mexico). What's been really great is the level of acceptance I have for the whole experience, whether it be a pleasant or an unpleasant one. Never before have I felt this level of openness for life.
