My plane that I will begin my voyage on.
A business trip ends and a vacation begins. The excitement hasn't set in yet, only because I have half a day to do so many things!
This morning wasn't the most exciting either due to what I thought would be a plane ticket fiasco. On my ticket there was a disclaimer saying that I would have to collect my bags from baggage claim between connecting flights. So it seemed as if I would fly to LA (domestic) and then have to get out collect my bags from baggage claim and re-check in for an international flight to Sydney within 2 hours!!! (I had never seen that disclaimer before, so it struck me as very odd) Thank goodness though, I was able to contact the airlines and they said they can check the bags all the way through, and only I would have to check in with the airlines in LA. I'm flying Virgin America and Virgin Australia airlines so I am looking forward to it!
Today on the checklist:
2. Get Travelers Checks
3. Go to my Physical Therapy Appointment (for my back)
4. Book some of the tours I still needed to
5. Contact Credit Card Companies
6. Pay my bills (ooo goody)
7. and more stuff that I won't bore you with
I think as I'm writing this blog the excitement is arriving. Let's just say I hope I am not as absent minded as I was when I flew out for my business trip.
The story of that goes..
Father: Where are you flying out of
Father: You sure? You're not flying out of Oakland?
Me: Ooo yea its SFO not OAK (mind you this is 4am)
So we drive to SFO, and we were looking for the terminal my dad went to international by mistake on the return to the domestic terminal he asks
Father: What terminal number?
Me: I remove my sheet and say Terminal 1
Father: looks at me like... what!?! that's not United Airliens
Me: OOOOOOOOO SHIIIIIITTT!!!! I fly out of OAK!
But I made it...barely... and sacrificed eating breakfast.
But today I have checked at least 20 times and I know I'm flying out of SFO. But if you see a 3D Catering van speeding down highway 92 then you know I messed up AGAIN!
OK off to complete tasks and get ready for the trip. I have to say I'm sure this will top the business trip to DC.
Sitting in the airport, early. I suppose even though I'm eventually going International, the first part of the flight to LAX is still domestic so I came 2+ hours early for a domestic flight. But Virgin Airlines seems to be going through computer software/programs upgrades, so all their computer systems are down this weekend. That does make me a little nervous since everything is being done manually and by paper. Yup, no electronic tags on my checked in bag, and no scanning of boarding passes. Just the old fashioned check of the ID and reading handwritten tags.
All I can say is I hope all my clothes make it to Sydney when I get there or the next 4 weeks (where I'm never in the same place for more than 2 days in a row) will be very interesting. I mean what am I going to wear while I do laundry every other day
