It seems the agreed 7am start to the day was too late for some this morning, but that's OK as they tipped toed around like elephants (no names). Up at 6am meant it was no problem getting the Mustang back to Budget by 9am this morning. Jeff took the driver's seat for the final fling in the Blue Devil which he really enjoyed (And we got a refund on the useless GPS they hired us which made Jeff very happy). We had a few chores to do this morning in preparation for the ride. We went to a bike shop to get some gels and to the local T-Mobile shop to get a couple of phones online. Up early and had a hot breakfast before heading off to rent a Mustang for the day. Tom had a go at playing navigator and did a great job getting us back to the Airport Rental area. By 9:30am I was like a kid with a new toy sitting at the wheel of a blue Mustang Convertible. First trip was back to our room to drop off the Pathfinder and then Dave wanted a quick visit to Walmart. This time we had hired a GPS with the car and Dave took a turn as navigator. I think we took about 5 wrong turns and the 43 minute trip to the Walmart took more like an hour and 15 minutes. Early starts all round for a 7am rondevou at the airport. Checked the bikes in and started boarding, at which point I realised I hadn't deflated my tyres. Oh dear, too late now. The "Spirit of Australia" kept us well fed and watered throughout, but 14 hours is a long flight any way you look at it. When we landed, US Customs was . . . . an exercise in patience, which means I failed badly. There were about 1000 people trying to get through when we were there. It took an over hour. From there we needed to get a hire car, which is when the fun started because as we discovered, there are no rental car agencies at the airport.
