I read this about golf:
The Rules of Socially Distant GolfIf you’re losing your mind without sports (like me), here are some safe ways to enjoy a round at an open course without putting yourself or others at risk:Check in online and avoid entering the clubhouseStay six feet apart from other golfersDon’t use carts or caddies; carry your bagDon’t share tees, balls, clubs, etc. (don't touch anyone else's balls!!)Don’t pull the flag or use bunker rakesNo handshakes or high fives!
I think my cycling would qualify as a socially distant sport. We normally ride in a cluster to take advantage of drafting. But we can easily go single file, and avoid the water bottle and spitting. I can also wear a mask or balaclava to help with any random fluids flying out of my mouth on a tough climb!Jogging, running, and walking/hiking could also be socially distant, but sweat would pose a problem as we approach warmer days. Other possibilities: Frisbee, shuffleboard, darts, archery, skeet shooting, driving range, yoga?
Those of you on a farm can just walk the perimeter without any problems. Lexi and I do this whenever we visit our family farm.Obviously the gym is closed, but my cousins are using You tube and other online exercise apps and videos. In the comfort of your home, great. But do not join up for group exercise. As I joked in an earlier email, tennis would be okay, as long as you do not touch your opponent's balls!!! Hahahaha! Maybe just play with female partners??Gardening would probably qualify as a socially distant activity. Some of you are already planting spring gardens. Washing and waxing your car would be great exercise. Yardwork, and house cleaning are also great, but how many times can you do this? When I go to work, just two days a week, I try to walk around when I am not busy. Believe it or not, I weigh less on the day after a work day! While not aerobic, it is better than watching reruns on TV. So far, I have watched the James Bond series, along with Caddyshack, The Accountant, Catch Me If You
Can, Taken, Hidden Figures, Jack Reacher, A Few Good Men and some other, more forgettable movies. I refuse to watch reruns of sporting events!I think I will pull the dumb bells out of the closet today. Oh wait, he is in the White House? Maybe the golf clubs too. And my guitar. What are you doing these days? I would be interested in hearing from you.
