These are the centerpieces of the Buttermilks. The larger of the two, is called Grandpa Peabody (foreground) and Grandma Peabody is the smaller in the background. These massive boulders are between 45 and 50 feet tall.

this is the start to the V0 highball on the backside of the Grandma Peabody boulder. Not hard, but high and therefore, scary-ish.

when you tag the bucket-sized hold 30 feet up Grandma Peabody, you can't help but feel relief-- which is followed quickly by apprehension because getting down will now be your big challenge...

This is an area found around the backside of the the area containing the Peabodies and the Sunshine boulder and GW Boulder. It was completely isolated due to a 10 minute extra drive and a 15 minute hike.

Bishop - bakery
Bishop has the best bakery, I can't remember the name, but it is on a main street, with yummy bread! Dan put in for a job in the forest dept. there, it is beautiful, a little expensive, but beautiful

Not Mt Whitney
The picture you posted as "Mt Whitney I think" is not the 14,495 ft peak. Mt Whitney is the highet point on a ridge running north/south and the front range just above Lone Pine Calif. The east face is a 2,500 ft face that has a class 3 Mountaineers Route few class 4 routes and some delightfull class 5s on it. Was looking for some information on buttermilk country when I happened across you jouney blog. Sound like you had some fun.
