We’ve had a great week exploring the Prescott Valley area. There are 3 lakes in the immediate area; Watson Lake, Willow Creek Reservoir, and Lynx Lake. You know I had to go find them! Each had their own beauty – Watson Lake & Willow Creek were surrounded by Granite Dells, dramatic rock shapes and formations with over 400 miles of public hiking trails and about 380 acres of water surface. Whereas Lynx Lake is nestled in the Prescott National Forest surrounded by beautiful green forest (which is rare to see ‘green’), it is a smaller lake (55 acres) however quietly sets amidst tall pines – it is so peaceful and beautiful – the web says it is stocked with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, crappie and catfish … can’t wait to try my luck!!

I got all our supplies for painting rocks and quickly realized neither of us are artists! What looks so simple on the website has ended up being sketchy at best!! But we both are giving it our best – yes even Mark!! Go to Facebook ‘RVers Rock’ and see all the talent out there… its unreal. We will paint several rocks to be placed in different locations on our travels home … can’t wait to see how our rocks travel the country!

We took off headed to Congress Arizona to spend the day with Lee and Dee (Marie’s sister). For the past 6 years they have been coming to this quaint old ghost town where gold prospectors gather to find GOLD!! The camp was called LDMA (Lost Dutchman’s Mining Association) Stanton Camp. We had such a fantastic day… so much so that we took a gazillion pictures so I will create a separate Travel Blog just for this day!!

We had a down day… Mark finally got into the dentist and took care of that filling… and I did laundry (again)… and the dogs got a bath!! Oh… and I got a haircut J

Yesterday we took off towards Jerome for lunch and then onto Sedona to see the red rock formations… the day was beautiful, sunny and warm. A big difference than the last couple days, which were extremely windy and cool! A fellow rv’er told us to be sure to eat at Haunted Hamburgers in Jerome… For those who have never been to Jerome, it is a small town built on a 30 degree incline on the side of Cleopatra Hill between Prescott and Flagstaff. It was originally founded in 1876 as a copper mining town and was once known as the wickedest town in the west. Jerome is now the largest ghost town in America!!! Lunch was amazing, definitely a place to go back to … IF YOU CAN TAKE THE STEPS! There is very little parking in this little town… so we parked only 3 streets down from the restaurant BUT to get to the restaurant we had to go up hundreds of steps (and I mean they were straight up). My legs were burning and I was totally out of breath! Going back to the car was much easier J We left continuing about 25 miles to Sedona, famous for the amazing red rock views. The pictures do it no justice… it was amazingly beautiful. I drove to the Sedona airport overlook to see the twisted trees, or vortexes, were still there (mom, Carol, Frances, and I took a trip to Sedona about 15 yrs ago and we went to this location).. vortex sites are thought to be swirling centers of energy that are conducive to healing, meditation and alive with energy. You will see trees twisted in an upward motion, an indication of energy being released from far beneath the earth. There was a family at one of the trees and I heard the man asking if anyone could ‘feel the energy’ … but I wasn’t close enough to hear what was being said (darn it). I think this stuff is so interesting; Mark doesn’t – he stayed in the car!!! Haha

Today I want to go back to Lynx Lake and try my hand at fishing!!

The reunion starts officially on Thursday but several couples are coming in a early… we are really looking forward to seeing everyone – let the fun begin J
