Al's Home in Foothills east of Yuma
We spent the last three nights in the driveway of friends Al and Mavis in the foothills east of Yuma.

They have a delightful double wide cottage in the desert along with thousands of other sun worshipers in the winter months. The foothills is a very livable community and is very attractive. Most lots are improved, but some are designed for RV occupancy, for rent to snowbirds.

And we weren’t actually in their driveway, but in an RV gravel pad next to their driveway, with full utility hookups, including sewer.

They drove us around the area, including a visit to the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park where we walked through strap-iron cells and the infamous dark cell solitary chamber.

A favorite spot was lunch at Lutes Casino on Main Street; a beer and burger palace known for its “eclectic” décor. There isn’t any gambling at Arizona’s oldest pool hall and domino parlor.

Yesterday, Nan, Shaddy and I visited several RV parks in the area with a view for next winter. This morning, we departed our lovely space in the foothills, and drove less than 8 miles to Sun Vista RV Resort. Notice there is no

“golf” in the name of this resort. We are on Doris Day Street, in the pet area. We can only walk Shaddy in the pet sanctioned area, and he is not too happy with that.

This place has an indoor swimming pool where I saw some serious water volley ball being batted around. There is also a nice, larger outdoor pool with plenty of soak up the sun rays lounge chairs.

During a walk around I saw the shuffleboard area; at least twenty courts, all in play with plenty of spectators too. These folk looked serious.

We will be at Sun Vista three nights before heading eastward toward Tucson. Tomorry night we’ve invited Al and Mavis to gather with us at the local Red Lobster for my birthday dinner. Shaddy had a b’day in December during our trip; Nan had one in January, and now it is my turn. It will be a delightful dinner with good friends.

Stay tuned,

Paddy

Happy Birthday, Paddy
Hi Paddy! I've really enjoyed following your blog! Happy Birthday tomorrow, and belated HB to Nan and Shaddy! Hope all continues to go well - you've had some great adventures! So where does next year take you? I'm sure you're not following golf but Stricker won Riviera yesterday and is now ranked #2 in the world, passing Mickelson who seems to be stuck in a rut! No Tiger sightings. To be honest, we did not watch the golf - instead opted for the Super Bowl and were delighted when "Who Dat" emerged as winners! New Orelans needed it! Travel safely and keep in touch - All the best - Allie

We are still iin the low 30's here in Grand Junction. Don is still having a rough time with pain. I am hoping today will be a better day for him. Love you, aunt Livvie
