Hi All,
We are in Mesa, Arizona enjoying the marvellous weather. Around 90 during the day and then cools off at night very nicely.
We attended Tina nd Bill's wedding on October 16th. See some pictures. Tina has worked with Evan for the last 12 years. She and Bill have gone with Evan to Disneyland a couple of times and he spends a weekend with them every couple of months. Evan was so excited about the wedding, everyone around him was very happy when the wedding actually came about. We delivered Evan back to his weekend home after the wedding and Larry and I went to Colby Street and slept in our 5th so we could be up and leave relatively early the next day.
Ed and Anita arrived about 8AM on the next morning with coffee and treats then we were off. Wish they were joining us but not this year. We realized we had no propane when we got back to the 5th on Saturday night after wedding and then we had plugged into the house for electricity and I guess blew a fuse so there was no heat of any kind Oct 16th. We
crawled into our very cold bed in our 5th on Colby Street and asked each other why we weren't sleeping in our lovely warm apartment, but we were excited about being ready to go.
We went to Sumner, Wa the first day. Bob and Shirley, friends from LaPenita own a RV place in Sumner so we went there to deliver some Pesos I needed to get back to the park and we hoped that Bob would be able to help with our propane issue. We rolled into Sumner about 12PM on the Sunday, Oct 17th and about 10 minutes later in rolled Mo and Vince. Grant and Carole, also LaPenita friends were already there so it was a lovely LaPenita reunion. Vince and Mo and us stayed in the parking lot of Bob and Shirley's. By that time we had heat, so life was grand. We took off the next morning, heading to Mesa, Arizona.
Had a lovely trip. Drove through Idaho, Pendleton, 2 nights in las Vegas and then into Mesa.
We spend 2 nights in LasVegas. Went over to Doug Bellamy's house in Las Vegas for dinner with he and his wife, Ginger and 2 little
girls, 17 months and 6 weeks. Beautiful babies. It was great to see Doug. Doug is a school friend of Clay's we had lots to talk about. Clay spent many days at Doug's at Whistler. He would bus to Whistler, taxi to the empty parking lot at the lake in Whistler and hopefully Doug would be in the parking lot with the flashlight to walk Clay to the cottage on the lake in Whistler. What kind of parents were we!! My gosh!! Anyway Doug and Ginger are doing well in Las Vegas.
We arrived in mesa, Az on Friday, Oct 22. The weather has been super since the day we arrived. About 90 or so during the day but nice and cool at night. In our park, are 3 other LaPenita couples. We have been having Happy Hour together. We live right next door to James and Karen right now. What a treat! They are such fun to be friends with. They are always game for anything, very spontaneous. Lots of times I have to jump into my clothes in the morning without much prep because I don't want to miss the next adventure. Don't get too amaginative, an
adventure for us would be a trip to Camping World and lunch out, a trip to the Bass sports store and of course lunch. We have ridden the trolley around Scottsdale and also did the Frank Lloyd Wright house tour again.
There are a ton of activities in this park. There are 4 pools and 2 hot tubs. the water is warrrrrm and wonderful. Every afternoon at the pool they have live music from 3 - 5 and cheap drinks and snacks. Just like a 5 star hotel except we get to back to our wonderful comfortable 5th wheel instead of a hotel room. Best of both worlds. As much as we love Mexico, this is very easy to take. the park is huge, 2000 sites in all.
I am enjoying the computer club. Meet every Thursday morning for a presentation by some outside person. All about printers, last week AT&T talking about Smartphones. I thought a Smartphone was a brand name!! Wrong. I could tell you if you are interested. Also, they have small break out groups. I learned how to make business cards last week. Made 20 cards for a $2 fee. Not bad.
We get
around here on our bikes, also ride around the park most days and then head out on the sidewalks outside the park. We all enjoy it alot.
We have had a couple of LaPenita North events. LaPenita North is all the people from LaPenita that have chosen not to go to Mexico this year but are in this area. We have so many friends from Mexico and I know when we head East in January we will hook up with lots more. Lots of people winter in Texas. We hope to get to Florida this Spring.
Most afternoons we get together for a glass of wine and some snacks. Home by about 6 or so but nice to end the day with company. We have discovered some dangerous alixer. Kirkland brand (Costco) bottled premade margueritas. $10.99 for a huge bottle and they go down way to easy. I, personally have a moretoreum on them unless it is some justifyable occasion. It is amazing what can be justifyable!!
This park has a loan center where you can borrow most anything for free. Our new 5th has a King mattress but it is really a King except 8" narrower
and a few inches shorter. I went to the Loan Centre and borrowed a sewing maching to do my sheet reno project. Nothing worse then sheets balling up under my butt as I sleep!! It might be the Princess syndrome as Larry calls it.
We actually have a US address so I have been Christmas shopping online. It is great fun.
Mike and Marg Walsh arrive here on Dec 15th and we leave for home Dec 16th. They will stay in our 5th for the 2 weeks we are home. Marg's sister and husband from Ireland arrive on the 16th and stay at James and Karen's for part of the time. We will arrive back in Mesa on Dec 30th and spend a few days with them and do New year's Eve together. We leave here Jan 2nd to head East.
I have to do some counting of days because as we age it is becoming more important to make sure we are in BC 183 days in a calendar year. I didn't give it too much thought this year but when I counted the days including when we come home in December we will be in
BC 186 days. Affects our BC Med if we don't make the magic number.
More another time. When we get home in December our 778-285-2529 should work.
