stateroom 7003 Boarding onto the ship went smooth considering we had to go through USA customs and everything. We were very happy with our choice of stateroom on the ship. Room 7003 with a forward facing porthole. No people traffic as we are right at the front of the ship.
Spent the afternoon exploring the ship...wow it's huge. We have never cruised before so this is a whole new experience. The food is great..so much of it everywhere you turn. They serve over 9000 meals a day on this ship.
We went to a show this evening at the theatre then dinner at the restaurant. Good service and great food.
Next day was a sailing day so we relaxed and watched the view from the deck. Food is so plentiful..you roll into bed every night! We also did a tour of the galley. Over 500 staff work in the kitchens. Was well worth while.
Sunday we docked into Ketchikan at 7am..Ketchikan is the second wettest place in North America. The first being Kauai in Hawaii.
Took a bus to our zip lining adventure. So glad we did this experience. At first I was petrified being high up In

sitting next to the porthole in our room the trees and flying across connected by a line and harness. After the first two lines I relaxed and totally enjoyed the experience. The guides were fantastic and took time to show us different points of interest in the rainforest below us. There are black bears in the forest but we didnt see any.
Ketchikan is a port town with the main employment being tourism in the summer Months. It is also the salmon capital of the world. It rains here everyday so we were lucky to get the zip lining done without getting wet.
We did our own walking tour of the town, visiting Creek Street which is famous of or it's brothel houses in the 1900's. Checked out Dollys House - an original house to the most famous madam I the area. Her services cost $3 and she worked everyday until she took in $100...certainly a busy lady. She paid $800 for the house and paid it off in two weeks. This was during prohibition and Dolly used to go over to Canada and buy booze and smuggle it back home and then sell it for $1 for teaspoon of the stuff! Dolly died in her

the pool area home in the 70's - she was 88 when she passed away.
At 3pm we departed from Ketichikan and a couple of hours later the captain delivered the bad news. There is an electrical with one of the motors so we needed to head back to the port of Ketichikan so it could be repaired..spending the night in Ketichikan meant we will not be visiting the port of Icy Straight Point. We were booked in for a whale watching tour so this will now be cancelled..joy oh joy...so this is the fun of cruising??
Update again soon....
