We took our time to arise on this second scenic cruising day of our first Alaskan Adventure together, finishing yesterday’s blog but having internet issues trying to get it posted. Sharon made her way to the 8am mass ahead of John, but neglected to tell him that the venue had changed (not that it seemed to matter). Sharon arrived at the Wajang Theatre room to find one other person waiting for mass, and decided to check the daily schedule at the front desk, and found that mass was again being held in the deco styled Queens Lounge. Although Alan arrives in the Observation Lounge before 7 a.m., the prime window seats have already been saved with passengers’ cameras and coats. When I join Alan, Mariner is just entering Disenchantment Bay. On a clear autumn day, the Elias and Fairweather Mountain Ranges poke their glistening white peaks into a deep blue sky. Hubbard Glaciers jagged ice glows in the morning sun. We’re in luck to be the only ship here. Mariner has no viewing competition as the captain pirouettes the ship round and round so that all have a spectacular view. We were woken up by very rough seas this morning, waves were huge and the boat was rocking from left to right very hard. We could feel it in our stomachs. We got up, and went to have very little breakfast. Heather wasn't feeling too well. We went into the Theatre to watch a seminar on the wildlife in Juneau. The Theatre is at the front of the boat so it was rocking even more. We only stayed about 10 minutes. We went to the shop to buy some motion sickness medication. Heather took one in the room. We then sat for a few minutes. Then suddenly Heather got up and went to puke in the bin in the room. She then stubbled her way across to the bathroom where she puked some more...yummy!?! While I'm technically in Sitka now, this entry is going to really be more about what has been happening especially yesterday as it was our Hubbard Glacier day. After my last entry in Juneau, I left the Internet cafe and walked back to the ship. This ended up being a very wet mile, but it was nice to get a semi-hike in. Back onboard, I got changed into dry clothes and went to dinner followed by a comedy show and then a version of "American Idol" they hold on board where passengers "try out" and then sing before a panel of judges which included our illustrious cruise director, one of the singers from the shows they do on board, and one of the DJs.
