What a day… If you’ve traveled anywhere in the pandemic, you know it’s challenging to say the least. Claire had scored this fabulous deal and booked our trip a while back and here we were at a point where Covid Delta cases were on the rise. Masked nearly the entire long day and attempting to stay as far away from others was the order of the day. We all had to travel several hours to the airport in Raleigh where we began 16 hours in airports or on a plane to get to Fairbanks Alaska.



On the 1st plane we were accompanied by two screaming babies, and on the second plane, the entertainment system went down for at least 2 hours. We arrived safely though. Luckily during the 4-hour layover, Claire treated us to two of her guest passes to the Sky Club where we could relax and snack more .



While we waited for the luggage at baggage claim, Claire checked to see if we could go ahead and get our rental car that we were supposed to get the

next day…. Score… We got a vehicle. He’s a hybrid and bigger than we expected. We drove 5 miles to our hotel. It was almost 11pm (3am EDT) and it was still light outside. By the time we got in bed, we had all been up almost 24 hours.
