Blue Moon....."without a dream in my heart" EXCEPT to get moving onward and out of Alabama. But that doesn't look feasible until late next week....the holiday has added to the extended stay because once they start the paint job....they don't want to just do part of it and leave it. Fortunately, we can attend the big festivities at the Coon Dog Cemetery (bands, food, dancing) on Sept. 3rd (our granddaughter's birthday) so we shall celebrate that at the C-D-C. Happy Birthday, Sara. Making more lemonade........ Trivia: 2 full moons in one month: the second one is called a "blue moon"....doesn't occur that often. We met a nice couple from Atlanta, Georgia. We went out to dinner together to one of the few restaurants we hadn't tried. Only fair food but very good company. Again, I ordered ... read more

After an uneventful easy flute we arrived as scheduled . Alittle travel worn and weary we had to wait a couple of hours to get into the apt. Sat at a cafe and on the seine not far from the pont neuf bridge..a few blocks from our apt. After checking in and unpacking ...we all crashed for a short rest .....I know this is against the rules but are we're so tired.....after our brief rest we wandered out to find a bar with a snack and then a trip to the grocery to stock a few necessary items. We are now sitting on ourlovely balcony with a birds eye view of Saint Eustache, the majestic church located in les Halle's...the old Parismarket place now turned park for walking and huge underground shopping mall. We are all ... read more

Speechless! We can hardly believe the day has finally arrived. Our RV is now in Bay 34 starting to get its back end repaired. Cory said the tech we have is very good....he will also get our window and door latch fixed at this same bay. This morning, we had to get up early in order to have the RV at the bay by 6:45 AM. There are approximately 50 bays. In the early morning around here, it is something to see: the "rolling of the rigs". They all pull out of their parking spot and slowly move towards the huge building where the work is done. It looks like big dinosaurs meandering to a monster grazing barn. We are so glad to be one of those "dinosaurs". Today would have been Chip's 13th birthday. It's ... read more

Traveling towards Swamp John's, we turned off and headed up a small road looking for the old Boot-Leggers moonshine property. What we found was the "Cypress Cove Farm". We strolled through the iron gates into a wooded, swamp like area that opened onto a pond. Overlooking this area was a gorgeous, huge estate. This wooded area originally was settled by the Cherokee Indians. After their departure, the boot-leggers used the area for their moonshine making. Now it has been "renovated" into a meditation place where various groups gather for meetings, ei: Garden Club, Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts. The estate is separate from this wooded area. It is owned by a State House of Representative member....he wasn't home on this day. Not as exciting as I thought it would but it killed an hour of our ... read more

WOWWWWeeeeeeeeeeee.......our end cap has arrived! Yippppppeeeeeee!!!! Now we WAIT to get into the bay for them to start working on it. Billy said "maybe" this afternoon (we are not holding our breath) or "maybe" tomorrow. If it doesn't happen soon, Cory may rip off our back end and do the work himself. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that's for sure. I will certainly keep you posted as to our progress. We have been here so long, we have noticed one of our windows starting to fog up (a common problem with this brand of RV....along with other problems as you may have noticed) so Norris added that to our "list". They will replace it...when ???? We have had 2 windows replaced in years past. Cory scrubbed on the window so ... read more

"Home again, Home again - Hilligan" or something along those lines. We are back to Runway Alley with the multitude of other Tiffin RV's --- WAITING!! Not sure what will come first: Hurricane Issac or our back end cap. The temperature stays in the 90's each day here -- maybe a little wind and rain will cool things down a bit. The day you all have been waiting for has arrived: the tour of the Red Bay Museum. Happy Days are Here Again....and you thought I forgot. First, a little history beyond what I have already mentioned in previous blogs. The Post Office was established in 1887 but the city wasn't incorporated until 1907. Radio commentator, Paul Harvey, once claimed that Red Bay had more millionaires per capita than any other rural town in America. The ... read more

No action for the next 3 days so we are heading to Memphis. Tiffin doesn't work on the weekends and until our back end comes in, there is nothing to do but WAIT.....similar to what we have been doing. Today, while traveling, I thought I'd give you a tour of Red Bay. We went to the Red Bay museum yesterday but that will be for another day.....I know you will be waiting for that with baited breath. I was incorrect when I stated Red Bay has 47 churches...it has 51. My photos include: large Tiffin mural in center of town, the Hotel Red Bay, abandoned, but now being restored for living quarters, the Sunshine Dog Food Factory, Jack's (a combo of chicken/hamburger place that started in the 1940's), one photo from the museum which shows ... read more

....and the work continues. Yippeee! Today our "wet bay" problem is being done. Lulu kept check of their work as you can see. Most of our small problems on the inside got fixed this morning by the fellow who did our satellite. He didn't have the tool to do the door latch so we shall have them do that when they do our end cap...next week. I think we shall try out the paddle wheel steamboat experience this weekend and then plan something else for the time when they do our endcap...so much to look forward to. I am breathless. Our Allegro Club friends left this morning. We were happy they could leave but sorry to see them go. They had the sweetest little dog, Daphney. Safe travels, Pat & Millard. Yesterday, they had their slide ... read more

Hallelujah! Some work has finally begun on our RV. They are replacing our roof rails today (another recall problem). They were going to do them when they did our end cap but we will take anything at anytime now. Cory saw Billy early this morning. He came back to the RV at 7:00 AM and announced "we are to go to repair bay #17 now!" But....I am still in bed! So it was a mad rush of flying around: getting dressed and ready while packing up the rig to close it up. In a matter of minutes, we were over in Bay 17 ....doesn't matter that I look like a rag-a-muffin from the ravine. Poor Lulu is still inside the RV and she is more presentable than me. So now we sit with our friends, old ... read more

....this is way too much fun!!! Today we went to McKinney RV Parts and Service. It is right across the road from the RV place where we are staying and waiting for our work to be done. It is a place "The Pickers" would love if they were into looking for RV parts. It has 2+ huge warehouses full of RV parts for every and any Tiffin RV you would want. It has all the furniture, appliances, wallpaper, fabric, nut and bolts and all the big metal stuff that makes up an RV. It is a jungle of parts and pieces and rather tricky to manuever around. We did get a new blind for our bathroom window for $10.00 -- probably would have been $50.00+ at Tiffin. We like to rummage through buildings but this was ... read more
