Today when we woke up it was raining heavily so we went to the front desk of our campground (Yogi Nashville) to look into staying another night which we thought would be no problem since the park was not even half full, but they would not allow us to stay another night at $35 (passport rate) they were going to charge $70 so we decided to pack up and move on. The drive itself was not too bad once we got out of Nashville, but we did see multiple accidents. I would like to say that was due to the rain, but I believe that some of that is just normal in Nashville, we are so glad to be out of there, if you can avoid the area with your travel trailer I would. Friday morning we left Suwannee River State Park and travelled west to Tallahassee to see my Aunt Suzie, who is not really my aunt, but has been friends with my mother since they were in second grade. She’s always been Aunt Suzie to me. We got to her street and discovered the street was closed, so we drove around the block to see if we could get through to her house. The city was digging a big hole in the street to get to the sewer, but allowed us to get past. It was so good to visit with Aunt Sue, after not seeing her in 40 years or more. We decided to take a leisurely southerly swing to visit friends and family in Alabama and Florida. As mentioned in an earlier blog, my former boss, Ellen, and her husband Dennis, had retired to Double Springs, Alabama, in the northwestern part of the state. They were a prime influence on our decision to retire in AL and we have enjoyed visiting them on several occasions. I had finally gotten an appointment with a dermatologist for mid-September and we suggested since the doctor was in Cullman, about half way between us, that they could meet us for lunch after my appointment. Ellen countered with "Why not come spend a few days here before the appointment?" That was not a difficult decision to make, as we had stayed previously in June and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
