This trip is never as simple as getting onto an airplane and flying to my destination. It generally looks more like this... 7:30am CST Wake up and pack up the last minute items 9:00am CST Load up the Explorer and head towards Puebla. Stop at the OXXO on the highway and buy a couple bottles of tequila (José's not going to be happy I didn't find the Don Ramon this trip). 9:20am CST Stop in la Zona de Talavera and purchase four pieces to take home for my mother's birthday in April. 10:00am CST Arrive at the CAPU bus station in Puebla, purchase tickets for the 11am departure on the Aeropuerto Expresso to Mexico City. Sit around the bus stop and munch on snacks while waiting patiently. 11:00am CST I am in luck, the bus offers ... read more

After all the issues with scheduling yesterday, I just wasn't feeling it today. Then I get a text message this morning that the mother organizing the event had a "family emergency" and wouldn't be able to make it after all. I know that Mexico moves on a different time but this is the last time that I do anything for someone else. Now I'm stuck with a bunch of expensive clothes on my hands that I'm not sure we'll be able to sell in our own store. Yes, I'm quite aware of the adage "don't count your chickens before they hatch" but geez! A complete waste of a day in my book. I could have packed up the family and headed off to the beach for the day or gone into Mexico City to visit the ... read more

With a two hour time difference and only staying here for 5 days, I see no point in waking up early and then having to adjust all over again. Ok, maybe I slept in later than I normally do but I did spend 20+ hours traveling yesterday and my body is feeling it today. Isabel and Severo returned with Fernanda just after the noon hour. The kids were pulled out of school early today in order to get cleaned up and ready for the ceremony. I went through my suitcases of treasure and found a sweater that was perfect for Isabel so she put it on to wear today. Everyone in the family picked out a ... read more

It is nigh impossible to exchange your US dollars for Mexican pesos in a bank. If I had known that I would waste almost a complete day trying to turn my money into the local currency, I would have deposited it into my checking account in order to just pull it out of an ATM and presto, pesos! Azul and I didn't end up getting out of bed until 11am (9am our internal clocks). Azul and I slept in the children's room with Sara sharing a bed with us, Marciana and Marilub on the bottom bunk of the bed to one side and the mattress from the top bunk on the floor to the other side where Pedro slept. Marciana is constantly drinking water so the first time that she woke up to go pee in ... read more
