Located in the south eastern part of Sonora 54kms from Navajoa and sadly 663kms to the Mexican US border bring us closer to our arrival back to Canada.In one corner of this city you can literly step into Chihuahua and Sinaloa state. It has a population of 25,000 and covers 6950 kms2. The town was founded in the late 17th century following the discouvery of silver in the area. Many writers and Actors settled here and he town maintains its colonial charm. It was at one time very Rich from silver but as times have depressed it supports itself with Agriculture, mainly beef having the Cortinez Resevoir that irrigates over 80,000 acres. The town is still very rich in its culture maintaining what was left to them by the rich in early times and in spirit and beauty. It is Holly week this week (Easter) Semana Santa fiestas and celebrations all Pictures of our special fiesta celebrated in the town square of Alamos Mexico March 29 2015.
