Arrived in Mexico on 8th September and had my own minibus for £18 for 100km :-) saw a big moped pile up and some1s leg was well and truly snapped - ouch.
Tulum is 100km south of cancun - quiet bohemien mexican town, with a real mixture of people from all over the world. Stayed at the no electricity cabanas (huts on beach) for 3 nights then went into tulum town and staying at the "weary traveller" - hammocks in the garden and good people.
The cabanas where awesome and they had free early morning yoga and untold different massages. Went out for a meal with an american couple who live in paris and do human rights work in Africa -
Went to the mayan ruins in Tulum at 7am to miss the yanks from cancun and also went to the mayan ruins at
coba 50km away deep in the jungle (once home to 80,000 people). I had a whole pyramid to myself which was awesome and once at the top I could see the whole jungle. I was at the top where about 10,000 sacrifises had been made BC. No health and safety at all and climbing
up was scary.
Went to the amazing beach in Tulum and played football in a England/Isreal/Norway v Italy/Mexico/NZ -we lost 5-4 but it was 40 degrees and humidity was silly.
hanging out a little bit with a guy from tennese, guy form nicuragua and a guy from the midlands (who are all really funny and cool. Got lots of info off the friendly people at the weary traveller about places that are good / not good in central america, but I may goto Merida (180km away north west) around the 16th.
hasta luego
