It's the second day since Nina and I arrived at home from our awesome Mexican Riviera vacation. Two days it's taken me to write this final blog because I'm no longer on vacation.. 'no more extra time for things like sleepin' in, breakfast, drinkin' tequila shots, blogging, etc. haha! Back to reality of jobs, bills, etc.! Only four hours after arriving at home from the airport, I was gettin' dressed up for work and worked all day yesterday(Monday).. same for Nina, she left home yesterday around the same time. But, it's great to be back.. home sweet home 😊

The day before, Sunday, we spent literally all day in planes and airports traveling from Cancun.. aside from the 1 hour taxicab ride from our resort in Puerto Aventuras to the airport.

On Sunday morning, we woke up around 630a, got dressed, and packed our bags.. our taxi was scheduled to arrive at 830a. We walked over to Las Brisas to have our final meal at the resort. As usual, buffet breakfast at it's finest. I was thinking to myself.. "Man, I'm sure going to miss this. The sweetest pineapple slices, the colorful & tasty papaya chunks, the freshly cooked

Another reason to love Mexico.. they don't fail to warn people about the dangers of smoking lol
eggs with my heated croissants.. muy delicioso." As well as the excellent attention and quality of service we were given by the restaurant's staff.

After breakfast, we took our bags from our room and walked towards the resort lobby to check out.. but before we got there, we stopped at their li'l store. We bought some magnets, postcards, and souvenirs. Afterwards, we processed our check out, got in our taxi, then waved goodbye.. it was bittersweet 😊

Our cab driver's name is Elvis. He speaks almost no English so it was a quiet ride to the airport, aside from me and Nina talking to each other. On the way to the airport, I took it all in.. the strange(foreign) vehicles on the highway with us, the jungle greenery on both sides, the countless fancy entrances to various hotels, resorts, amusement parks, etc. As well as the constant sightings of "colectivos", community passenger vans that run in the region picking up passengers on the roadway and transporting them to various locations.. much like public transit but more like shuttles, very interesting. To contrast the cost difference between colectivos and taxis, colectivos are definitely very inexpensive. Our taxicab ride to

We made a mistake of having desserts here.. $30USD lol, and it tasted mediocre
the airport cost us 730 pesos($65), whereas a colectivo would cost around 100 pesos($9). However, colectivos are shared rides therefore, it would take a lot longer to get to places.

As soon as we entered the airport terminal, we were surprised by the presence of "duty-free"shopping. For a second, I forgot that we were in an airport.. it seemed as if we were inside a Nordstrom that was also selling a plethora of liquor selections in addition to cartons of cigarettes that are all boldly marked warning signs like "SMOKING KILLS" and "SMOKING SERIOUSLY HARMS YOU AND OTHERS AROUND YOU", it was pretty cool(check out the picture).

Our plane departed Cancun Airport at 1215. 12 hours later, after midnight, we landed in PDX. In those 12 hours, we were in the air for approximately seven. We spent three hours in IAH(Houston) and two hours SFO(San Fran) for our layovers. My family lives close to SFO so I asked them to come visit with me and Nina.. they gladly came since Nina and my family had never met, it was their first time meeting lol. We got home around 115am after arriving at PDX.. big thanks to future bro-in-law Stephen for picking us up and taking us home!

This vacation is just what the doctor ordered for me and Nina, and I'm glad we listened. Hawaii has always been my favorite but after experiencing the Yucatan, this Mexican vacation is making me think twice. I am looking forward to our next trip! Guys, "ALL-INCLUSIVE" is the only way to go, or at least it should be. Nothing like not needing money or not worrying about carrying cash or credit card(s) while vacationing somewhere. Would I recommend the resort we stayed in? ABSOLUTELY! I give this resort a 5-star rating. It is the Catalonia Riviera Maya Beach and Spa and Resort in Puerto Aventuras! (approximately 60min drive south of Cancun Airport)
