We came to Cozumel on a recommendation from our neighbours, Gerry and Betty who were also kind enough to hook us up with our accomodations here at the Villas Mayaluum. Their daughter Jodie, her husband Elton and their six kids, affectionately nicknamed as The Six Pack, are also here this year at the same time as us for one month. I couldn't imagine even having six kids, let alone travelling to Mexico with them. Three girls - Kensley 1 1/2, Emmalyn 4, Julaine 10, and three boys, Lucas 7, Ben 8 and Cole 12. After Johnny's scuba school, we are starving so we take him to La Choza for lunch which is Ian's favorite Mexican restaurant downtown in San Miguel. It's busy with local Mexicans as usual. We like the atmosphere, it's very clean and comfortable for a large restaurant, nicely decorated. The food is always good and service is great. Ian and John both have chicken fajitas which are delicious but massive. Ian eats so much that he isn't feeling very good afterward. I have a house salad and share a couple of small fajitas so I feel great. We see something going on with the policia and a vehicle across the street as we leave, the police carry some very big guns around here! We wake up to a beautiful sunny morning, eat some fruit, poached eggs and toast for breakfast. We soak up some sun lounging around the pool for a while before Ian and John walk down to the dive shop to pick up another snorkel mask. On the way back, Ian stops by the massage place next door and makes arrangements for Amabel, the masseur, to come by our condo and give us each a 40 minute massage. She is very professional and shows up with her massage table and supplies. We really like her pleasant and happy demeanor, she tells us that she loves her job. She also really knows what she's doing, we all agree it is the best massage we've ever had in our lives. We think we might want to do this one ... read more

Hola Amigos! We just spent 1 week on the Island of Cozumel with family and what a week it was! Our resort was the Iberostar Cozumel. We were so happy with our choice as it truly is a wonderful place to stay. On the small side (300 rooms) the accommodations were little bungalows and 2 story huts so you really felt you had your own little home away from home. Each room had a hammock on the balcony. One of the highlights everyday was waiting to see what kind of towel creature our chambermaid would leave us. We had an impressive array: Swans, a mermaid, a dog, a dinosaur, a penguin, a little girl and a dragon! Drizzling, cool and windy, which is a nice break from the heat and sun for a change. We eat some fruit and yogurt along with french toast for breakfast here at the condo. We set out on a walk to downtown to have lunch at Le Chef, a little French cafe in downtown San Miguel we visited once before. It's cool outside but the rain holds off during our walk, it's a nice change not to be sweating. Le Chef is definitely one of the best restaurants on the Island. It's drizzling by time we arrive, so we sit outside on the sidewalk patio which is covered by an awning.
