Day 4
The morning started off as usual, my up with my computer and coffee while the boys sleep for another hour or so. This morning was one of extreme frustration with both my computer and my inability to read all the boxes that pop up thoroughly. The previous night we tried to download a movie from Itunes but couldn’t due to lack of hard drive space. We found out that all the pictures I have stored on my computer (mind you they are of every trip, ball game, party, etc from 2005) were taking up way too much space. So I need to find an alternative solution for storing my pics. Luckily my husband brought his thumb drive from work and I was able to transfer the pictures that I hadn’t backed up at home onto the drive….well, that is all but one album. Day 2 pictures of our current trip are now gone, yep, gone! I guess I didn’t read the little pop up warning box well enough and they were deleted. Never to be seen again. Oh well, luckily I had uploaded some of the pics that I can’t recreate onto my travelblog and for the rest
we’ll just have to recreate them! Now, onto our day!
After the computer fiasco we decided to take our morning walk down the beach. Today the sun was shining and it looked like a good day to spend over at Akumal Bay. So we loaded up our cooler, chairs, towels, and snorkel gear to make the long journey (5 minutes) to the other bay. If you saw us you would have thought we were going to be gone for days with all the stuff we lugged out to the car!
When we arrived at Akumal Bay, around 10ish, it wasn’t too busy and we found a nice spot under a palm tree in front of the Akumal Caribe Resort. Aidan quickly headed to the water while Sean and I took in the beautiful water. After watching Aidan play in the water we decided it was time to don the snorkel gear and see what we could find. We snorkeled for a little bit until Aidan could seem to keep the water out of his snorkel. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to get out far enough as Aidan was having his issues and the water was quite deep.
I definitely need to get him a snorkel vest before we go back out. So we got out of the water and went back to our seats. By now it was getting close to lunch time and the big decision was on: Do we go to Lucy’s or go back to the Loncheria? Lucy’s it was. YUM!
At Lucy’s Sean had 2 shrimp tacos, Aidan had 2 fish tacos, and I had a Rajas Empanada and a Black Bean Tostada. Boy were those tacos crunchy! I could hear both the boys crunching away on their lunches the entire time. Aidan and Sean both agreed the tacos were great and Sean was coveting my tostada. Now lunch is done, it’s time to go back to the beach. At about 3ish we decided it was time to head back to the condo to relax and get ourselves cleaned up for the LG party at 5:30.
Showed up to Lol-Ha a little after 5:30 and the party was already hopping. There were a lot of LGer’s there having a good time. I introduced myself to Babs and we were welcomed to join. Due to my lurker status most of the folks
didn’t know us, which was fine, and we sat with some very nice people at the end of the table. As it was dinner time, we stayed only for about 45 minutes so we could go on our next food quest.
The discussion was now centered around going back to the Loncheria or trying something new. We opted for something new and ended up at La Lunita. When we arrived they promptly sat us on the deck area. We were glad we were in the portion under cover as it has been windy here and we don’t enjoy eating a nice meal while be pummeled by the wind. For dinner tonight we chose the Queso Fundido for starters. Sean ordered a grouper dish with good stuff stuffed inside(I asked him what it was called and he can't remember), Aidan had the salmon with a tarragon sauce, and I had the Mexican crepes with corn, pablano peppers, and epazote in a verde sauce and Manchego cheese grated on top. We all enjoyed our dinners and would visit again on another trip.
Now it was time to go back to the condo and have movie night. Since I was able
to free up space on the computer we were able to download Get Smart. Sean and I fell asleep half way through but Aidan was a trooper and watched the entire movie.
Now it’s time to decide what Day 5 has in store for us….
