The gang
Outside of the school... Hey guys,
I finally found a few minutes of free time, and have uploaded all of my pictures to my computer. Which should make for a great blog. Here in Puebla, life has been going well. The weather has been beautiful, but now, once again we are entering the rainy season. Which is probably the thing I have disliked the most about life here. The rain isn't like that of the midwest, here it is the rain that soaks everything maybe even your spirit haha. But recently things have been great and I have no reason to think they won't continue that way.
I have been taking a lot of photos recently with a bunch of the "pros" of the Puebla skate scene, and have had my photos turned into flyers. This is pretty motivating especially when the other day we went to a contest and handed them out. It made me proud to see 5,000 copies of photos that I took, and literally hundreds of kids walking around with them. Even though they have no idea who Jake Law is.
May 27th was Maria's birthday, and we had a great little party with the family. I bought her
The Brits...
Nial and his kids tickets to a Cirque du soleil type show, but it was canceled! Rotten luck, but tomorrow we are going to see a good Jazz show instead. Also, my dad has turned another leaf in his book! Happy birthday again! Wish I could have been there with you! Sounds like everyone had a wonderful time at TGs. Also, The father of my God Daughter, David, has graduated from St Thomas as an electrical engineer. I am super happy for him, and wish you the best of luck Dave! Miss you and the fam! Sorry I can't make it to your party, I will be there in spirit.
Things at work have been going fairly well, although I have been working a lot. 40+ hours a week. Also, I have been dealing with some more difficult groups at the school which is really testing my skills. I hope to be enrolling in a Teachers Development Course this fall, which would mean I have to stay on board at the Anglo until feb of 2012. It should help me develop my career as a teacher though if that is where I land. Our teachers also recently celebrated Teachers DAAY!!! Woo hoo! why
Good times
These are all photos from Teachers day... don't we have that in the US? (see some of the photos)
The good news is Maria and I have been saving a lot of money as well. We are planning on coming home in Dec. Now. We should be able to stay for about a month. So, I hope you guys will be around. We are dreaming of a white Christmas!!!
Other news, everyone is extremely excited for the world cup. Probably not the same there, but I imagine there is more energy this year. Vamos Gringos@! There is a line of thought here I have heard, about how mexico is destined to win. A very stupid line of though I must say. "1810 Mexican independence, 1910 Mexican revolution, 2010 world cup". Doesn't quite add up for me haha.
There are some great photos here of Emiliano on a day trip Maria and I took with him to Cholula. He is a real emerging photographer I must say. I hope you enjoy all of the photos, unfortunately I haven't had time/energy to edit them. Hopefully that won't be forever. I have been able to buy some new gadgets though, which is making life fun, a new
Spelling Bee
They tried to have a Spanish spelling bee for the Gringos... I was the only one who stayed flash, new skateboard, and some new teaching resources (oh wait those aren't fun).
This summer, I have really missed home, summer is the best time of the year and MN and I long for those long warm summer days. SO ENJOY THEM!!! Enjoy the lakes, here there is nothing of the sort...
I miss everyone quite a bit, and get excited from any sort of correspondence. Love you guys! Take care and hopefully see you in december!
Love Jake
