La Vista (The View)
This is what we see first thing in the morning. April 11, 2019
We took off from Las Vegas and landed in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Our first homeowner (We are house/pet sitting) was waiting for us in the reception area at the airport. Customs and immigration was super easy and our luggage was waiting for us. I have to say, the overall flight experience was easy and efficient.
We met (Let's call her Susie) Susie and drove straight from GDL to her house near Lake Chapala, JAL, Mexico, a pretty simple route and we had a nice conversation the half hour or so that it took us. We arrived at the house and were met by four very exuberant pups, all happy to see Susie and very interested in us. The home is a very nice two BR, two and a half BA at the top of a huge hill with great views. I am sure when we move to our next sit, we will miss this view.
Susie spent the evening showing us how everything in the house works (and guess what? You can drink the water from the tap – well water). We went to Tony’s Campestre BBQ place and enjoyed a great meal. Feeding the
Jerry Brown
This is Jerry Brown, YouTube Video Provider of informative videos about the Lake Chapala area and a bunch of others as well. Look for Jerry Brown Travels. dogs is the only thing that can even remotely be thought of as a chore, and that is easy-peasy. (Did I just say that?). The morning of the twelfth, we got up, had a little breakfast and Susie took us on a sight-seeing tour of Chapala and Ajijic. She pointed out the best place to use the ATM to get cash (never on a Monday – they are always out until Mr. Money Truck comes.), where the vet was if the dogs needed treatment, and a bunch of other stuff.
We dropped Susie off at the GDL airport and off she went to her own adventure. We drove towards home, stopping to get pesos from the ATM, eat a bit of Chinese food, and grocery shopping at Soriana’s. Since it was our first trip we spent about $52 US.
We had a light evening meal of leftovers from Tony’s.

We jumped out of bed because we rested SO WELL and had some breakfast. I think I had cereal, pan tostado y café. Rose continued finishing off the meat and tortillas from Tony’s and of course a nice cup of fresh coffee.
Lori Here!
This is Lori, Jerry's wife and traveling companion. This day was going to be great, we knew in advance. We drove to Ajijic, found good parking and walked to the Lake Chapala Society (where I know you can always find a potty). In future posts, I will abbreviate that as LCS. LCS is a place that was owned and donated by a gringo many years back. It is in a park-like setting with a cute café, and large English library and many activities for the members.
After that, we went to the Peacock Garden Restaurant where Jerry Brown of Jerry Brown Travels (YouTube) was having a meet and greet. We met Jerry and Lori HERE! (you gotta watch the videos to get that), and they are JUST as nice in person as they are in the videos. There were over a dozen folks in attendance and a great time was had by all. Oh, and did I mention the food and the ambiance was great, too?
From there, Rose and I went to WalMart (yep, they have one here) to pick up a couple of things we forgot at Sorianas. Back home for a restful evening, watched a NetFlix when it got too dark of
The Meet Up
On April 13, 2019 Jerry Brown held a meet and greet at the Peacock Garden Restaurant. Great food, better company. outside to enjoy the view. Dinner was pasta with homemade sauce and bread and a nice glass of Carmenere from Chile.

A rest day, and boy is it nice. The weather could not be more perfect. Birds and frogs singing outside. Pups are all fed and napping and the hummers are sucking up the free food, usually eight to a dozen at one time. We are thinking after lunch we may go out the gate and explore what is up the hill from here. We washed clothes (hope the cleaning gal is okay with that.) and hung them outside to dry.
