our living room area WE ARE IN!!! This is Maurice, Linda will blog later this week with all the school information for those interested in all that "teacher stuff"!
Wow, what a week! Saturday morning,we were treated by the Parent Associaion to a bus trip to a popular large market at San Angel!
We were able to pick up a few things for the apartment and now know where to go for some Christmas shopping. We were dropped off by the bus at our apartment. We rented it unfurnished, however, because Rosa, our landlady, likes us, she volunteered the furniture she had if we would like to use it. We were charmed with a bedroom set complete except for a mattress and bed in a bag, which we bought and had delivered on Saturday! She also had a fridge and a dining room set. It helped a lot. We went out and bought cutlery, food and other necessities and we were in! Sunday, up at 7 again, oh, that would be a sleep in here, and on the Metro with a teacher who had been to Walmart before. More shopping for kitchen stuff, then a practice run to Linda's school, supper outside in some

Dining Room quaint restaurant with friends again and early to bed......really early to bed, 9PM.
We live in the Colonial La Condesa, the yuppie trendy area of the city. We are the second house from Alfonso Reyes, which is a street with the promenade. It connects a few blocks away with Mazatlan, which also has a promenade. Grocery stores, restaurants, bank, a gorgeous church, shops and all other necessities are within easy walking distance. The weather has been 22-25 C every day, then usually between 5 and 7, it rains and then clears a couple of hours later. I haven't worn a jacket since leaving Saskatoon. But the nicest thing is the fact there are no BUGS! We have 4 huge windows in our living-dining room that open and there are no screens! Windows stay open and there are no mosquitoes, moths or flies, morning, afternoon or evening.
Monday, up at 6 and get Linda off to school with Matt (another ASF teacher). Rosa and I are off to shop for internet and cable. She takes me around to Telcel, then to a CableVision store where we make a deal. We should have very high speed, (6MB) and cable in

what do you need when you move in? by Monday or Tuesday. Rosa then takes me to a fresh fruit and vegetable market literally just around the corner and introduces me to her personal marketer who will make sure I get the best of the produce and at her prices too. All the vegetables and fruits you can imagine, all fresh tasting like just out of the garden at home. Linda gets home from school and we cook our first stir fry at home. YUM!!!
Tuesday, Wednesday, up at 6 and off to school. I go to school with Linda and another teacher named Matt who lives just around the corner, on the Metro we go. Linda gets her new Mac laptop, I am not a fan of Mac .... yet. More shopping after school, meeting with friends for cervesa, etc.
Now for Friday, Linda goes off to school, I clean house (gotta get a maid....and she's available on Friday), and then go out and find an internet cafe to catch up on emails and talk to family. Then off to teachers' happy hour, must have been 50 teachers at Groove, a quaint bar, but then.........we go off with for a special evening with one of

fruit from the market around the corner our friends, Megan, (a 30ish year old who is a huge fan of Lucha Libre). What an evening! Exactly like Stampede Wrestling but with the wrestlers wearing masks! We got 11th row seats, we thought we were nice and close, however Megan says she usually gets ringside, nice and close so they land on her when they fly over the ropes, which happens quite often. It was televised, loud, great music, great ring girls (of course), and 5-6000 screaming fans! Even had midgets wrestling, and then a world title fight between a Mexican and a Japanese. Japanese guy actually won too. We drank beer, ate popcorn and learned to swear in spanish.
Saturday, rest, and more rest. Linda suns on the terrace, oh ya, on the roof of the house is the laundry room and a terrace where we will be able to have a couple of loungers and table, and more plants. Linda rests, I cook an omelette and then off we go to another market! Balderas Maret....crafts, glass stuff, rugs, blankets and anything else you can think of.
Sunday, we check out our local church, 3 minutes away. What a grand and beautiful church. Then, with
Bedroom
we are using this bedroom which will be the spare room for company once we get furniture for the master bedroom Megan, Rennie and couple of others, we go off to a local artist's market, where local artists paint, display and sell their originals. It was spectacular and we picked up a couple of paintings. Quiet evening at home and we are ready for next week. We need curtains, and sofa and other housewares. The echoing in the livingroom is starting to get to us.
Again, let us tell you how clean, green, nice temperatured, and safe it is. We must be living right. We've adjusted to the altitude and are much less tired. We have not been even remotely sick with digestion problems. We're walking a lot and getting to know our way around!!!! Bonus!
