We woke up to another nice blue sky morning. Today is supposed to be in the mid 60s. Since the local restaurant was closed for the holiday, we had breakfast in our units and pulled out of Watson Lake at 8:15. Incidentally Watson Lake with the population of 1,700 is the second largest town in the Yukon. Whitehorse, the capital and where we are heading today is just 25,000. The total population of the Yukon Territory is only 36,000. So….lots of elbow room. The drive to Whitehorse was rather mundane as the scenery did not compare to what we have been seeing. This stretch of the Alaskan highway is so remote that the infrequent approaching car waves. Although, another black bear just lumbered across the highway in front of us--they're really amazing! Interestingly, we have not seen a law enforcement vehicle or person since we crossed the Canadian border a week ago! Stopped for lunch at the Yukon Motel in Telson Lake. This beautiful blue-green lake is 78 miles long and is quite a sight. On to Whitehorse. We drove into the city and were impressed with it's seemingly modern amenities. Headed North again for our final stop for the day--Kluane RV Kampground in Haines Junction YK. Along the way, we ran into a herd of horses grazing alongside the road. We thought they were wild, but as we got closer, we realized they all had bells around their necks--perhaps to scare off the bear off ?? Who knows who they belong to
This campsite has a great deal to be desired. I have a feeling they're not going to really open it until June 1 because now there's no water no Wi-Fi no cable. Not exactly what the brochure professes. Having said that the view of the snow capped mountain range is spectacular. We had a great spaghetti dinner. The view and the weather were marvelous. Today we broke the 3000 mile barrier. Tomorrow it's on to Tok, Alaska
As we motor on, we continually cross paths with other Alaskan Adventure Winnebagos. For many of them it's their third or fourth trip. For one fellow it's his 11th trip. They have a wealth of knowledge to share. Sunset tonight is 11:00pm. I think I'll skip this one

A motorhome comment..... One thing about taking a shower in a phone booth, you can't slip and fall down.
