(Almost) All Packed!
It's a miracle--I managed to make everything fit AND pack early. Two things that pretty much never happen in my life. Uganda here I come!
Wow! Just a few more days before I fly out from this little Saskatoon nest I call home for the longest international trip of my twenty-two years of life.
It would be an under-exaggeration to say that I am EXCITED (yes, even if I write it in all-caps), but unfortunately my feelings are more intense than what the English language can capture right now. *sigh*
A question I get asked a lot is: "What are you most looking forward to in this Uganda trip?
" I'll try to channel the essence of my answer in a few sentences.
I am looking forward to the many learnings that lay ahead--about health/nutrition, about culture, about people, about myself. I am looking forward to having my knowledge and faith stretched as I get pushed into that uncomfortable place where growth happens. I am looking forward to having my expectations for this experience challenged and exceeded by God and the people He uses to do incredible things in this crazy world we live in.
I think what I'm trying to say is that I am going into this trip with open hands and an open heart. I happen to find myself in a season of some tremendous transitions in my life, and instead of fearing change I want to be able to embrace it with gratitude and joy.
Hopefully this blog will serve as a way for you to vicariously experience my trip to Uganda. (You're welcome!) Hopefully you are able to take something meaningful away from it, and will give me grace as I muddle through my first serious(?) blogging endeavour. I know this post is pretty vague and doesn't give you much info on what's going down in Uganda. I guess that means you'll just have to stay tuned, and stay awesome. 😊
Lots of love,
