Greetings dear friends,

... flip flops Now I'm back in Quebec City I have some time to update my blog.
Like I said in my previous piece, we left Tadoussac and went to Les Bergeronnes to see the whales. Tadoussac is very touristic and since the chance is a bit bigger when you move to the North to see whales, so that's what we did. Captain of that day was Hugues. Lionel thought he could where his flip flops on the boat but came to think about the cold and so, he changed his mind and went for the rubber boots!
We all got a suit to make sure we were protected against the cold and the rain. Off we went for a 2 hour quest on the Saint-Laurence river.
People who are often at sea orientate on the presence of seagulls when they want to see a whale. And since whales and seagulls share the same diet, that's where you have more chance to see them.
When we saw the first group of seagulls we weren't lucky but a bit further away a few whales showed up. Really amazing creatures. I managed to take some nice pictures with my camera. Suddenly a few seals
popping up from the sea. I always thought seals lived in the neighbourhood of rocks, apparently not.
After the adventure with the whales en the seals we were off again towards les escoumins. A little village near the ferry. To kill time, we went to look for a bistro or so to play a game, have a drink, ... What did we find?? A Belgian bakery/chocolate house/restaurant. The people who had the place were people from Antwerp who had been living there for 10 years. Mmmm finding Belgian bread on the other side of the ocean is something you don't see every day :-)
She apologized a bit because the bread was not the same as in Belgium. At first they made their bread like at home but the Canadians aren't used to well baked bread (sissies!!), it's too hard for them, and so they had to adjust to the sponge bread. They even cut it the Canadian way, this is in very thick slices.
At 9pm we took the ferry towards the other side of the river, from les escoumins towards trois pistoles.
