We really enjoyed the old city but were very disappointed by what has happened to the Olympic venue. We were only there for a couple of days. Really enjoyed reading your blog.

Hi Colleen
Thanks for your comment. We didn't make it to the stadium, but I think they may have been playing a soccer game there that day. Things looked a bit tired and worn I have to say and a lot of the city seemed that way. We are in a Toronto now - many more glitzy buildings here. Money money floating around I suspect.

Vicarious travel
I have to be disciplined when I read your blogs. I just want to travel everywhere you describe! It's a privilege for those of us lucky enough to have the funds and time to do what you're doing. Keep enjoying it and sharing it!

Thanks John
Mind you, I don't put in the boring stuff or M and I squabbling over petty things ? And as to the privilege of being able to do this - I am conscious that this has been a ridiculously indulgent thing to do. I don't quite know why this should be my reality now (it wasn't always...) but I am here for the ride despite the creaking bones and expanding waistline (why are there so many pastries in this world??). Thanks for your kind words xx
