Voilà, samedi dernier, environ un mois après avoir acheté mon billet d'avion aller-retour pour mon voyage «Un mois en sac à dos au Mexique», j'ai acheté ledit sac à dos (avec un de ces fameux «packing cubes» tellement vantés dans les forums de voyage). Ça s'en vient de plus en plus vite. Ça fait 2 fins de semaines que je dis que je vais faire mes réservations en auberge pour mes 3 premiers jours là-bas; faudrait bien que je passe à l'acte.

J'ai une idée générale de ce que je veux faire (i.e. «voir la "fin du monde" annoncée par les Mayas» «-- notez les guillemets: je ne crois pas que ce sera la «fin du monde», mais je veux me reprendre pour mon passage à l'an 2000 qui fut plutôt ordinaire); mais je laisse la porte ouverte aux occasions qui se présenteront.

Je n'ai pas de plan précis; je sais que ma première journée sera gaspillée (en raison d'un départ trop matinal à mon goût); la 2e en sera une d'orientation; la 3e je devrais être à Valladolid (si j'ai compris comment acheter un ticket de bus!) et la 4e à Chichen Itza, mais ma planification s'arrête là!

About 1 month after buying my plane ticket for my "One month backpacking trip in Mexico", I bought my backpack (along with 1 packing cube, just to see how much I could fit in there). It's coming fast at me! It's been 2 week-ends I said I would make reservations for my 3 first days in hostels, I should really get around to it!

I have a general idea of what I want to do (i.e. see the Mayan "end of the world" «-- note the quotation marks: I don't believe it will be the "end of the world", I just want to make up for my lackluster Year 2000 with another change of cycle); but I leave the door open for the opportunities that will surely present themselves.

Touching down in Cancun on Dec 2; the 1st day will be a write-off (I have an early morning flight, I'll be so tired!), 2nd day will be spent getting my bearings and figuring the buses; 3rd day Valladolid, 4th day Chitchen Itza, that's my "plan" to date.
