It's 18.35 on the 4th June (happy birthday Grandma). So just another quick blog to let everyone know what we've been up to. Monday was a pretty average day, we had a lot of seeding to get done so that took first priority. This simply involves filling small cell trays with compost and putting a seed in each. Sounds boring I know, but it's not unlike just sitting around a kitchen table - easy work and sociable too. As well as the potting, we also had a little planting of peppers in the greenhouse to get done, as well washing out 40 odd boxes for the box program the next day. Not really much else happened on Monday, just the usual evening routine, and bed relatively early. Tuesday was a more interesting day. It was the ... read more

It's 18.59 on the 2nd June. Today I'll just give a little update as to what we've been up to Friday, Saturday & Sunday, as nothing much of note has happened between now and my last blog. So, Friday was a usual work day. We got up earlier than usual - about 7.30 - as Sandy had agreed to pay us $11/hour for any hours over 7 a day. I can't exactly remember in what order we did work, but most of the day was spent clearing out greenhouses, planting corn and tomatillos out in the field. Is was another very hot day, and at about 2 we headed to the house's garden where Sandy had barbecued some veal steaks. We sat and ate and chatted about the work we'd been doing and the work still ... read more

It's 17.35 on the 30th of May. So today i write a little about Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. This blog probably won't be quite as long as the last few, as I'm just writing about work days. So Tuesday. This was our first day of work back at Meadow Sweet, and it was another day for us to prep the boxes that were sent out to the locals. So, in the morning we set about cutting herbs and cleaning the boxes, as well as cutting heads of lettuce to be bagged. Once all the harvesting was done, we headed to the orange Barn to package and box up the produce. This took a surprisingly short amount of time, even though there were 36 boxes to fill, and we were finished by lunch. After ... read more

It's 20.36 on the 19th of May. Probably won't be too much of a long blog today, as if often the case with blogs about the regular working days. Having said that, the first day, Sunday, was a day off for us. We got up nice and late again, about 10, and made some breakfast. It was another hot day - max 23•c and completely cloudless - so we were out by 11 on the lawn and sunbathing. I took a short break to Skype the parents, before Matt, Rosie and I headed up to the Tim Hortons to grab some lunch. We walked up through the fields again, but this time in the noon sun beating at our backs. Luckily, Tim Hortons is only twenty or so minutes away, so before long we had air ... read more

It's 21.35 on the 16th May. I've decided that it would be a good idea to give a brief sentence description of the weather before I go on to talk about each day, as I rarely mention the weather unless it is directly relevant to something else in saying. However I decided this just a minute a go so I don't have any temperatures for this blog. Anyway, for next time. So Thursday. We got up, a little late admittedly, by 9am - and headed out to work. Matt and I started by potting the near endless numbers of Lunchbox peppers in the large greenhouse, while Rosie and Kate finished off clearing out the greenhouse we had begun weeding and composting the afternoon before. Once we had done this, we all headed to another greenhouse to ... read more

It's 22.20 on the 14th of May. Today I'll give a little summary of the last 3 days - up to, but not including today. On Monday we got up for breakfast and to pack. Being severely hungover we didn't feel like doing it the night before, but we were packed with good time to leave the hostel with time to reach the bus terminal. The clouds were heavy and low over the towering buildings in the city centre, and it rained sporadically as we hauled our packs the 20 minutes to Bank St, where our bus left at 11.40, due to arrive at 12.30 in Stouffville - just down the road from Meadow Sweet farm. The bus, more like a comfortable coach, made its way pretty swiftly out of the city, and onto the sprawling ... read more

Hey everyone! Since we're too lazy to bother telling you all individually, Molly and I decided to do this blog about our travel adventures. By the way, we decided to up and leave Montreal to travel the United States! We both bought Discovery Passes- it's something Greyhound offers where you can buy 7-,14-,30-, and 60-day unlimited travel passes. The catch was, the last day you could purchase one was the 30th of September, so as much as we'd love to return and see all your beautiful faces, we're taking advantage of this awesome deal and opportunity to see (as Molly likes to put it) 'Murica. We are currently in Toronto visiting family, and will be heading to Kelsey's place in Oakville for a few days, and a turkey weekend at her cabin in Michigan. Our first ... read more

Acording to the captain who at the moment is holding up the wall in the ...Oh wait.... big announcement..... getting the defectie part from another plane will be ready to leave in another hour.... having having trouble believing that. I am going to use my width and length and lie down on the bench once finished with this blog. They have already given us a $15 food voucher which was 8o cents short for an orange juice and a sandwich. Now they want to leave at 8:30 and its already 8:00. I have emailed my first night's hotel. The train leaves Amsterdam regularly .... not like Sudbury ... once every two days and not on weekends. The captain is ... read more
