Toronto
Jim and
Pauline were our gracious hosts for our four days in and around Toronto. On our first night we were invited to the Maguire mansion for a tasty dinner with Jamie, Rita, Jenny and JP. On exploration of the city itself, we saw the CN tower and went on a city bus tour and boat tour around the harbour and islands.
Niagara Falls is as busy as it is breathtaking. We were crammed aboard the Maid of the Mist in order to be drenched by the spray of the falls. Thankfully our sexy blue ponchos kept us reasonably dry. Lonely Planet warns that Niagara Falls is a place filled with the Newly Wed and the Nearly Dead. Dave reckons it should therefore be called .... wait for it .... yep .... Viagra Falls. Tee hee.
Ottawa
Dillon and
Katrina were kind enough to show us around Ottawa. Dillon goes by a rule which we think should be promoted worldwide: 'I buy the beer while you are in my town'. Good for you Dillon. (As a side note, we tried to extend our stay in Ottawa for another month but couldn't arrange it.)
We were treated to
a bilingual (and hence very long) light show projected onto the parliament building, and a tour of parliament courtesy of the Canadian government. We also visited a very vibrant market where we purchased yummy beaver tails.
Kelly invited us around for a BBQ to catch up, and we finished our stay in Ottawa at a local pub chatting with Dillon and Katrina and drinking Snakebites.
