I haven't used the travel blog in some time, not that there hasn't been much happening since the last used. Mainly, immigrating to Canada. It's got it's pros and cons, but one of the pros is more time off for travel.
Last year I watched the sailboats float up and down the other side of the lake, so summer 2013 I spent one weekend 6 hours a day in sailing lessons on a C420 two man dinghy. I've mellowed enough to where that appealed to me more than a jet ski or motorboat. By the end of summer I owned a little 16' pocket cruiser and trailer. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with it before the water turned too cold for me to feel safe out alone in it. The long winter firmly entrenched sets the hearts of young and old to thoughts of their summer loves.
Now luckily my year round love is understanding with my new hobby which has been consuming too much of my waking dreams and conversations. So how to get a fix during the winter? I looked at sailing classes in Mexico, fun but expensive. Chartering a boat, still expensive unless you can convince others to come with and I still felt too green to want to skipper it. What would be great was if I knew someone that was an expert sailor, had a boat and I could help out. Sadly, I didn't. I turned to the internet and to my shock and amazement there are quite a few cruisers with crew wanted ads on sites like floatplan.com which is where I came across Bruce's ad for crew.
I've got to get back to packing, but I'll try to blog trip and see how it goes.
