Biking on Sarnia Ontario's Bluewater Bike Path (aka Seaway Trail) This is a short trail that is more suited to walking than it is to biking due to its short length of about 6 km. Lots of benches along the way. Found only one porta potty and no water. The trail is mostly concrete and in good condition. It is not continuous as there are small breaks in the south and northern portions. One part of the trail starts at Point Lands Park on Seaway Road and follows the St Clair River south passing through more parks and gardens. It ends at Paul Blundy Park and you must go along the sidewalk along Front Street for a short distance where it picks up again at Front and Johnson Streets and continues through some more park land. ... read more

Geo: 42.9788, -82.4033We packed our suitcases early this morning and made our final preparations. Late morning we left for the airport in Sarnia. It was an easy drive with little traffic and only took us 45 minutes to get there, It was a much easier drive than traveling to Metro Airport. The first leg of our journey was from Sarnia to Toronto where we would catch an international flight to Copenhagen, Denmark. The security check was quite easy and quick since there were so few people on the plane. There wasn't room for too many passengers since it was such a small plane. It had one aisle with a seat on each side. If you stretched out your arms you could touch the window on the opposite side of the aisle. There was not even a security ... read more

The last week has been very relaxing as far as the driving goes. We are still at the Rock Glen Campground in Arkona and the weather continues to be very hot and humid. We have a few ammenities here, outdoor shuffle board, pool, mini golf and a large conservation park right across the road. We spent a day walking amongst the woods and stream(which is nearly dried up). I did not mention the trees before, well they are fantastic. Large Oak, maple, elm, Hickory, a regular cornicoppia of decidous trees that we do not see out west. We spent an afternoon travelling to a little town called Strathroy, this is a large farming area, the farms are not as large as what we are used to seeing but there are lots of them. Another day we travelled to ... read more

The following weekend, although rainy the whole time, turned out okay for the weather. My family had taken ride up to our seasonal trailer and I was exited to re-visit the beautiful scenery in the area of Port Franks and alongside the Ausable River. Again the rain had narrowed down our options on where we could travel, but we managed to catch a couple dry hours and walked the trails at the Ausable River Cut Conservation Area . The view alongside the beach provides a great example of what the mixedwood plains has to offer. I have no idea how I got here, but I awoke at 11am to find myself on one of the recliners in the lounge room. It wasn’t a bad bed at all! The only people who were awake were Tash and Spencer; Tash had gone to work and Spencer has gone to his mom’s house. I went for a walk out to the balcony but it was a little chilly, so I stepped back inside and the radio was still on. There were plenty of old rock classics to be heard and I drifted in and out of sleep, only to be awoken by something I hadn’t seen for nearly 8 years. The chilled winds had gotten even colder and before too long, the grass in the apartment complex courtyard started turning white. Soon after, ... read more

I woke up at the insane hour of 2am while Caelis was still up chatting on the Internet, even though it felt like I had been asleep for over ten hours. My teeth were still playing knock and run on my nerves so I brushed them over before going back to sleep and not waking up for another ten hours. When I finally awoke, Tash and Spencer wanted to show me their Halloween costumes. Halloween is another big celebration here that has little or no showing in Australia. Tash had some devil horns but Spencer is always the show off and he got into an outfit that had everyone blushing! He was parading around showing off his ample assets and it seemed that only he could be the one to get into this outfit. I ... read more

I hardly unpacked last night, but since Baz is so huge, there was a little bit of drama fitting him back into the luggage. He must have helped himself to some pumpkin squash while everyone was sleeping! Phil thought about calling in to work sick or just showing up whenever he wanted to. He has been working some crazy hours getting the new Home Depot store in town ready for their opening day and he hasn’t even been sleeping properly. He drives Kryssie and myself down to the airport and we hang around for a bit until we see Kryssie’s mom, Jade as well as a family friend show up. I don’t mind waiting around at the airport for another two hours while I wait for my plane back to Toronto, but the four girls ... read more
